The Faculty of Engineering was started in the year 1996 with the approval of All India Council for Technical Education. It is spread over an area of 100 acres and is situated 6 km off Mettupalayam Road at Varapalayam.

Our University established the Department of Printing Technology in the year 1996 and is one of the very few Universities in India offering this course. Printing Technology is one of the lesser known, but distinct branches in Engineering and Technology. The programme offered by the department is B.E (Printing Technology).
The focus of the department is to nurture the admitted students along several dimensions and by the end of four years the students are moulded as Industry-ready employees or Self-confident entrepreneurs or Service-minded citizens.
CurriculumThe programme is a multi-disciplinary one, that covers Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Programming and Management courses apart from a plethora of core Printing courses. The knowledge and expertise in these areas are as per the requirements of the Print Industry. In addition, since Printing and Publishing is categorised under ITES (Information Technology Enabled Services), the core courses in this programme have been designed with IT flavour. State-of-the art themes such as Security printing techniques, Printed Electronics, nano-materials and sensors in packaging, green ink technologies and eco-friendly paper-making approaches, all find a place in our curriculum.
FacilitiesThe University Press, Saradalaya is the Real-time Laboratory for our students. The department is equipped with a computer lab for pre-press operations, Printing finishing Machinery and Quality Control equipment.
Initiatives outside the curriculumThe department is equipped with facilities such as Ceramic Mug Printing and Handmade paper production unit which are beyond the curriculum.
ScholarshipsThe Printers Association has been providing scholarship for 10-15 students and Best student awards each year.
Job Opportunities, Placement record and Higher StudiesBoth the Indian and International printing industry has massive growth rate and they require highly skilled professionals. Huge opportunities are available along several avenues of this sector: Digital publishing(Digital Designing, E-publishing, Security Printing, Product Promotion & Designing Industry, Multimedia & Advertising), Printing Quality Control (Quality Engineering & Quality Auditing), Printing Industry (Commercial & Newspaper printing, Flex printing, Textile printing, Metal printing, Carton printing, Package printing), Packaging segment (Flex Package, Multi-purpose package, Security package), Maintenance & Manufacturing industry (Printing Machine & material manufacturing, Industrial Automation, Printing paper & Ink Manufacturing), Academics & Research (Educational Institution, Material & Technology Quality Research, Product & Process development Research). Extension ActivitiesWe give social awareness and opportunities for community service during their tenure in the University. Our students have participated in workshops to provide print skills to rural children, and hearing impaired children.
Teacher strengthA dedicated team of faculty members, the backbone of the department, is also involved in consultancy and research activities. They undergo periodic training in Print industries to keep themselves abreast with technology. Research areas include Colour Science, Image Processing, Green Technology, Handmade paper, applications of computers to enhance print process, etc. Faculty members are regularly invited by the Printers Association and Printing Industries as Guest Speakers for their seminars and conferences.
Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) Admission ProcedureEligibility Norms
Candidates must be either 17 years of age or attained the age at the time of admission. They should have studied in regular, full-time, formal stream in the school. Candidates appearing for the 12th standard examinations in March / April 2017 are also eligible to apply.
B.E. 4 Years
Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology.Obtained at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.
Issue of application forms
Application forms and prospectus will be available at the office of Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore - 641 043 on payment of ` 400/- by cash or by post by sending a request to the Registrar along with a DD for ̀ 450/- (For SC/ST students only ` 200/- by cash or ` 250/- by post on producing the attested copy of community certificate) drawn in favour of The Registrar, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, payable at Coimbatore, or can be downloaded from the website www.avinuty.ac.in.
Entrance Exam and Submission of Application
Application form duly filled in, by the candidate’s own handwriting, with the attested copies of 10th Mark Sheet and Community Certificate should reach the Registrar, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore - 641 043.
All India Avinashilingam Engineering Entrance Examination (AAEEE) will be held on 02.04.2017
Eligibility Criteria for B.E. (Lateral Entry) admission
A. Passed Diploma examination from an AICTE approved Institution; with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in appropriate branch of Engineering / Technology.
B. Passed B.Sc. Degree from recognized University as defined by UGC with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and passed XII standard with Mathematics as a subject.
C. Provided that in case of students belonging to B.Sc. Stream, shall clear the subjects of Engineering Graphics / Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mechanics of the first year Engineering programme along with the second year subjects.
D. Provided further that, the students belonging to B.Sc. Stream shall be considered only after filling the supernumerary seats in this category with students belonging to the Diploma stream.
E. Provided further that students, who have passed Diploma in Engineering & Technology from an AICTE approved Institution or B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC, shall also be eligible for admission to the first year Engineering Degree courses subject to vacancies in the first year class in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted. However the admissions shall be based strictly on the eligibility criteria as mentioned above.

The three-year Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) was started in the academic year 2014-15. B.Voc. degree programme is a unique initiative by MHRD to enhance the employability skills of higher education students.

National Service Scheme
NSS is a compulsory curriculum component in the UG level that brings the students out of the cocoon of ‘I, Me, Myself’ and make them conscientious citizens.

Master of Engineering (M.E) Admission Procedure
Eligibility Criteria for M.E. Admission
Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in the relevant field with at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) at the qualifying Examination. Those who are awaiting the results of their qualifying examinations will also be eligible to apply.
Candidates as mentioned in section above will be required to qualify in the Entrance Test conducted by the competent authority. The candidates should compulsorily produce their marksheets at the time of interview.
Admission Procedures for M.E.
Selection will be based on marks in B.E. / B.Tech. equivalent, an entrance examination conducted by Avinashilingam University and a personal interview.
The application form and prospectus can be obtained from the Registrar’s office, on payment of ` 400/- in cash or by Demand Draft, drawn in favour of The Registrar, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, payable at Coimbatore together with a self addressed stamped envelope (A4 28 x13 cms in size) for ̀ 20/-. Application for admission to M.E. Degree course should be sent to the Registrar, as per the specified date.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) at the Faculty of Engineering was established in 2011 with a fund of Rs. 7 Lakhs from the RIFD/EDC scheme of AICTE. The Cell aims at creating entrepreneurship of high order in higher education Institutions to include entrepreneurship and innovation as part of the engineering programme.The activities of the Cell are such that students areencouraged to be aware, ideate and innovate by providing ample opportunities to learn by doing through sponsored Entrepreneurship programmes as prescribed by NSTEDB, Dept. of Science and Technology, and Govt. of India. It helps the students and Faculty to interact with entrepreneurs and get knowledge on institutions like MSME, District Industries Centre (DIC), NSIC, Banks like Lead bank,NABARD and organizations like CODISSIA, COINDIA etc.

Coimbatore Productivity Council (CPC)Faculty of Engineering, Avinashilingam Deemed University is a life member of Coimbatore Productivity Council (CPC) affiliated to National Productivity Council (NPC), New Delhi since June 2011. CPC unit in Faculty of Engineering conducts awareness, guest lectures and training programs to the students on the various management techniques adopted in industries.

CSI Student Branch was started in Faculty of Engineering in the year 2005 to facilitate education and knowledge exchange among the students community. The student branch organizes various events like guest lectures, workshops, quiz and competitions for CSI student members. Our Institution has CSI Educational Institution Membership from 2008.
Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE)IETE is the national Apex Professional body of Electronics & Telecommunication, Computer Science and Information Technology Professionals. IETE (Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers) Students’ Forum of our institution has been set up in our Faculty of Engineering in the year 2009. Various activities are carried out for the ISF members regularly by Quiz
club, Toast-Masters club, Electronics Hobby club of ISF.
Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE)ISTE is a national, professional, non-profit society in the field of Engineering and Technology. The ISTE staff and student chapters were started in the year 2003 to bring efficient linkage between technical institutions, industry and society. Our students bagged the best student award from ISTE students chapter, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Section for three consecutive years 2014, 2015 and 2016.Many activities are conducted for the students to train them as global leaders.
Indian Association of Energy Management Professionals (IAEMP)Indian Association of Energy Management Professionals (IAEMP) is a group of highly qualified, committed and dynamic conscience keepers to nation on energy matter. We, the active members of IAEMP national level network with 90 students and staffs of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. Student Chapter was inaugurated in the year 2016.
PlacementThe Placement cell handles all activities of campus placements for the students. Placement cell is equipped with facilities to support every stage of placement process like Pre-Placement talk, Group Discussion, Technical and HR Interviews, etc
