Dear Members, Donors and Readers,

I have good news to be shared with all of you. In the special EC Meeting of AVOPA, as well as trustees of AVOPA Charitable Trust held on 17the April, 2013 it was decided to go head with the opening of AVOPA free hostel for boys in Chamarajpet, Bangalore – 18. The hostel premises is offered to AVOPA, by Sri. M.L. Gopala Krishna, our General Secretary, for a nominal rent, for a period of 30 years lease. Many thanks to him, on his generous philanthropic gesture. A high powered committee has been constituted to plan and execute the project for providing free lodging and boarding facilities to PU/Diploma students, commencing from this academic year, 2013-14 and onwards. Several philanthropic persons have volunteered to donate Rs. 30,000 per student for the first year 2013-14. Thanks to them. Their names are published here under**. I appeal to all our members / donors and other philanthropic persons / entities to generously contribute to this noble cause, on priority. Details furnished on page 3 of this news letter. Our intention is to provide the students - 'all found accommodation'. This should enable them to be free of all financial worries and focus on learning effectively.

Ugadi was celebrated with much happiness and devotion. I could see many of the families clothed in new clothes and joyfully celebrating. I would like to acknowledge the support by several donors and advertisers who have donated their hard earned earnings to AVOPA, for enabling several activities. They silently support and are always saluted by AVOPA. I would like more members and others to extend support to the activities, so that we can add to the value creation and thereby to render value added services to the community.

Smt. Premakala Gelli w/o. a doyen of our community, Padmashree Ramesh Gelli, has donated Rs.2.50 lakhs towards the prema corpus Endowment Merit Award'. A committee named as PREMA Committee has been constituted. This committee will be entrusted with the task of identifying indigent girl students for the Merit Award. This has been a shot in the arm for AVOPA. We are grateful to her for taking the lead to help the 'girl child' to come up. I wish all of you, more prosperity in the new Financial Year.

It has access to many degree colleges like PES college, V.V. Puram College, Jain College, National college, Vijaya College, BHS Junior College. Also it has access to many engineering colleges like, BMS, BNMIT, BIT, JAIN, RV Colleges and Global college.

Avopa, Bengaluru invites applications from students who are joining B.E. First year Semester in the year 2013 to avail the Book Bank Facility. Text Books ( available with us ) will be given to the students on returnable basis. On completion of the first semester, they can obtain second semester books while returning the first semester books and so on.

Application forms can be collected from AVOPA office Bengaluru on or after 15th July 2013. Completed application forms, along with the proof of admission secured for the BE 1st semister, this year, should be submitted early. Since the facility is available to limited no. of students, completed application forms with necessary enclosures will be screened and accepted on 'first come first serve basis.' A deposit of Rs. 1500/- (Rupees One thousand five hundred only) will be collected from the selected candidates out of which Rs. 1000= will be refunded after the completion of the course.
