Friday 18th March 2016 Issue 25

I can’t quite believe we have only less than a week remaining

in school. Just a reminder that we will be finishing for Easter on

Thursday next week, at 12.30pm.

This week started with Year 2 leading our Collective Worship. It

was a lovely assembly and Year 2 parents thoroughly enjoyed

learning about St Patrick. Also on Monday, our Key Stage 1

gym club went to Carterton for a West Oxfordshire competition.

They did amazingly well and came second overall. Well Done!!

On Wednesday, Years 4 and 5 attended a percussion

workshop in Oxford. The children had a wonderful time and

had such fun.

Father Tony had his induction Mass on Thursday evening and

it was a memorable service to welcome him formally into the

Parish. A big thank you to our Altar Servers for helping to

make Father’s evening so special.

Today, our Sports Squad and Mrs Woolley organised the

‘Sports Relief Onesie Mile’. A big thank you to them for

organising the event so well. We collected £271 – thank you for

your support.

Please say a prayer for our Year 3 children who will be

receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday.

Just a reminder, there will be no HT Active next Thursday

afternoon.

St Patrick’s class celebrated

their Saints’ Day on Monday.

The Year 2 parents were

treated to a thought provoking

assembly about their children’s

class Saint. They did a short

dramatisation of St Patrick’s

life and showed how

St Patrick’s Day is celebrated

around the world.

After School Clubs

A letter has been sent out regarding after school clubs being held in the Summer Term.

Please return your slip to the school office as soon as possible.

With regard to the Hockey Club starting on the 20th April, this is run by an outside provider.

There will be 10 sessions of hockey. We have received a lot of interest in the club and we can confirm that all children who

have applied, have got a place at the club. We would be grateful for the contribution of £5 per child to help pay the

provider. Thank you.

Gym Club Competition

On Monday 14th

March, the following

children went to Carterton for a Gym

Competition:

Olivia S, Oliver, Theia, Abbie and

Evie.

‘We went on the springboard. We

did floor work, including forward

rolls, teddy rolls, back support and

tuck ‘n’ roll.

We finished in second place, out of

nine.

We had a fun time.

Years 4 & 5 attend Percussion Workshop

On Wednesday, our Year 4 and Year 5 children visited

the Centre for Music in Oxford to attend a Percussion

Workshop. The children participated in group

exercises, and enjoyed performances from

international musicians Rachel Xi Zhang, Laurent

Warnier and John Traill. Several stepped into the role

of conductor! Harry, Joe and Isla proudly conducted

over 100 children playing percussion instruments.

Well done to all pupils - you were a credit to our

school.
