I need to write a bachelor’s thesis. What is the procedure?
1. STEP:
Go to the OVGU E-learning portal: course category „FWW /FEM course category:
“Studiendekanat/ Office of Study Affairs” 07/01/19, 10 am – 25/01/19 23:55
until 22/02/19: Announcement of thesis topics by faculty’s chairs
2. STEP:
Students must choose the chair of their preference (first choice) via the OVGU E-learning portal,
course category “Studiendekanat/ Office of Study Affairs”
plus: hand in the written application registration form to the chair of your preference (first choice)
until 01/03/19, 12:00 at the latest
* Study Dean’s Office will inform the chairs about the first preference of students
* Selection process by chairs, information to the taken/chosen students until 20/03/19

* In order to register for this course, please click on “enroll me in this course/ mich in
diesen Kurs einschreiben” which you find on the right in the box
“Administration/ Einstellungen”
* Then go to “Self enrolment/ Selbsteinschreibung“ and click on “Enroll me/
Einschreiben“.

What if I don‘t know how to select my chair of preference (first choice)?
* Click on “Course Registration“ (SS 2019: “Bachelor Thesis Seminar (29993)”).
Chair Selection:
* Then click on the button from the section “Choice/ Gruppenwahl“ and chose on only
ONE chair of preference in “Group/ Gruppe“ , confirming it with a click
on the box below:
Finally confirm with a click on the button: “Save/ Meine Wahl speichern“ .

More details: “First preference” :
Students must hand over the faculty’s registration form for the bachelor’s thesis
with an attached current grade transcript to their chair of preference until:
01/03/19 until 12:00 (noon) email, postal service, personal = possible options
The registration form must consist of the following information:
personal dates, passed elective courses, motivation letter

I did not succeed in receiving a place with my chair of “first preference“ what do
I need to do now?

This registration step 3 is necessary only for those students which did not receive a place with
their chair of preference.
The allocation of left over places will be given on a "first come, first serve” basis starting
from : 25/03/19, 17:00 until 27/03/19, 23:55
Log-in to the E-Learning portal: “Studiendekanat/ Office of Study Affairs”
Until 10/04/19 topic assignment by chairs and start of the reading period of two weeks.

* Go to “Choice/Gruppenwahl“ and click on ONE desired chair + confirm your
selection with a click on “Save/Meine Wahl speichern“ .
NEW : Besides the title of the chair, you will find information about the total
number of participants, the maximum number of places offered for the SS
2019, and how many students already received a binding confirmation.
Info: Group members/Gruppenmitglieder = already confirmed participants
* Click on: “Course Registration- Chair Selection/ Wahl des Lehrstuhls“

If places of chairs are fully booked, it is not possible anymore to activate the
button “Choice/ Gruppenwahl“.
Chose a chair with open places.
Be informed, it is possible to change the first selection, if other chairs are still
offering open spaces. For this click on “Choice/ Gruppenwahl“ of the other
chair and confirm it with a click on “Save/ Meine Wahl speichern“ .
