Information booths for international prospective studentsOn both general information fairs, there will be an information booth for international prospective students, providing information about housing, admission and student life in Groningen.

Open House Honours CollegeThe University of Groningen Honours College, located in the tower (A11) of the Academy Building, is meant for excellent students who are able and willing to follow an enhanced programme. Current Honours students are happy to talk to you between 11:20-12:00, 13:30-14:00 and 15:30-16:00!

Science Truck Zernike CampusDo you have spare time between presentations? You can get started with all kinds of experiments in the Science Truck. The truck is located on the Zernike Campus, near the Duisenberg Building and the Kapteynborg.

For presentations on Bachelor’s degree programmes, general presentations, city walks and the guided tour at the Faculty of Economics and Business, you have to register for your place. Once registered you will receive a confirmation email that you will need to gain entry. Your confirmation email will tell you where to go. You can find your way using the directions and maps in this PDF. So bring both your confirmation email and this PDF to the open day, printed or on your smartphone or tablet!

Information booths on Bachelor’s degree programmesAll Bachelor’s degree programmes host an information booth where you can talk to study advisors, students and teachers to collect course specific information. On the next page, you will find an overview of where you can find these booths and when they are open. Please keep in mind: presentation venue and booth venue of the same programme might be different!

General information fairsDuring the Open Day, there are booths with information on student housing, admission, introduction, sports, culture, student organizations, etc. on two locations.

The buildings of the University of Groningen can be found partly in the centre of the city, partly on Zernike Campus in the northwest of the city. From Grote Markt you can reach Zernike by bike or by bus in fifteen minutes. You can find all Open Day venues on the maps on this page and the next. Please check your confirmation email to see which venue you have to go to.

Route description by public transport

By bus or train

You can easily access Groningen by public transport. Go to www.ns.nl/en or 9292.nl/en to plan your journey.

On foot or by bus from the train/bus station to all venues

On foot From Groningen Hoofdstation it is a ten-minute walk to the city centre where you will find venues 1 to 9 and 16: cross the bridge at the Groninger Museum, and walk straight ahead via Ubbo Emmiusstraat – Folkingestraat – Vismarkt – Stoeldraaierstraat – Oude Kijk in ‘t Jatstraat – Broerstraat. For venue 16 (Pathé Cinema) after Ubbo Emmiusstraat you take a right at the Gedempte Zuiderdiep. If you are planning to spend the whole of the Open Day in the city centre, you will not need a bus ticket (see below).

By bus Venues 10 to 15 and 17 in the city centre and Zernike Campus are further away from the station. Below, you will find all bus connections from Groningen Central Station (Hoofdstation) to these locations. Please don’t forget to order a free bus ticket for the Open Day by leaving your details here. Please note that these free bus tickets will not be distributed on the day, and that without it you will have to buy a ticket from the bus driver.

Accessibility GroningenThere are many roadworks in and around Groningen to increase the accessibility of the city. Please check https://www.groningenbereikbaar.nl/en for the current situation. We strongly advise you to take your time and make use of public transport. If you do come by car, it is good to know that you cannot easily access the city centre by car, and parking is not free of charge. A much easier and cheaper option is to use one of the five Park & Rides surrounding the city centre.

Park & RidesGroningen has five Park & Rides. Signs along the entry routes to the inner city direct you to the nearest P+R (see Circular Road Groningen map).• P+R Kardinge, Kardingerplein, 780 spaces• P+R Hoogkerk A7, Hoogkerkerplein, 1215 spaces• P+R Reitdiep, Professor Uilkensweg/corner Friesestraatweg, 300 spaces• P+R Haren A28, Emmalaan 35 Haren, 825 spaces• P+R Meerstad, Driebondsweg, 400 spaces

You can park all day long at the P+R sites and continue your journey with the P+R Bus from there. Please don’t forget to order a free bus ticket for the Open Day by leaving your details here. Please note that these free bus tickets will not be distributed on the day, and that without it you will have to buy a ticket from the bus driver.

Car Parks City CentreIf you do come to the city centre by car, you can best use car park Ossenmarkt for the venues 1-9, Grote Rozenstraat and Grote Kruisstraat, car park Boterdiep (entrance Bloemsingel 10) for the Faculty of Medical Sciences, car park Bios or Museum for Pathé Cinema and car park Westerhaven for University College Groningen. Parking on Zernike CampusAs a visitor to the Bachelor’s Open Day you can only park your car on car parks P3, P4 and P6 (see Zernike Campus map). However, the number of parking spaces there is limited, so we recommend that you park at P+R Hoogkerk or P+R Reitdiep and continue your journey by bus from there. If you do park on the Zernike Campus, from P6 it is best to take bus 1 to Hoofdstation, bus 2 to Station Europapark, bus 9 to Eelde/De Punt, shuttle bus 801 or bus 15 to Hoofdstation from bus stop Zernike Noord and get off at bus stop Nijenborgh or Crematoriumlaan. From P3 and P4 you can reach all venues on the Zernike Campus on foot, but make sure you are on time, because it is a long walk to the Aletta Jacobs Hall in particular! Alternative: take bus 1 to Hoofdstation, bus 2 to Station Europapark, bus 9 to Eelde/De Punt, shuttle bus 801 or bus 15 to Hoofdstation and get off at bus stop Crematoriumlaan. Parking on other car parks than P3, P4 and P6 and parking along the road is not allowed on Zernike Campus!
