With the rapid spread of antimicrobial resistance, bacterial infections represent an increasingly urgent threat to human health worldwide. To be able to meet future health care challenges it will be mandatory to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the physiology and behavior of bacterial pathogens in vivo and of the complexity of antimicrobial therapy in patients. This international conference will focus on the current knowledge on bacterial persistence and its impact on antimicrobial therapy. It will strive to unite basic research on persistence with clinical and applied efforts to control infections.
