Since the opening of our newest venue in 2003, Bærum Kulturhus has gained the attention both by the public and artists for its diverse and open minded programme. Bærum Kulturhus was awarded Bærum Business of the Year in 2010, being the first business in the art field to win the award in its 27 year long history.

Since 2011 Bærum Kulturhus has gained the status as Regional Centre for Dance. Our ambitions and actions are supported by the Municipality of Bærum, Akershus County Council and the Arts Council Norway.

Being a Regional Centre for Dance, our ambition is to be a visible actor facilitating artistic development, production and program-ming of national and international dance. Bærum Kulturhus is one of the most active players in the Norwegian dance field.

Ut i Scenekunsten (UiS) - a dance project for young professional dancers Bærum Kulturhus is the initiator and producer of Ut i Scenekunsten - a project aiming to help young Norwegian dance professionals entering a demanding dance career. The project offers selected dancers to take part in a high-quality production with choreographers from Norway and abroad. The first project was produced in 2011 and was choreographed by Kristin Hjort Inao (Norway) and Allen Kaeja (Canada). New productions are planned in 2013 and 2015. Tour productionBærum Kulturhus is the initiator and producer of a new informal touring network consisting of selected art venues in Norway. Our aim is to build and develop interest for dance in Norway together with other regional centres.

WorkshopsWe organize workshops and forums for amateurs and professionals based on our guest performances and production work. We collaborate with Norway’s higher education institutions for dance as well as the local dance community.

Bærum dance campBærum Dance Camp is a summer dance course offering young dancers from the local dance community, and those pursuing a career as a professional dancer, a week of inspiration and training. The course is organized in collaboration with Bærum Municipality and the local dance community.
