BALANCED - APRIL

By Nadine Piat-Niski

Of late it seems as though the term ‘work/life balance’ has been used loosely and somewhat to excess. Everyone is talking about it… the question is what are you actively doing to achieve it, and how many of you are successfully living a balanced healthy life full of energy and a zest for living?

It’s really important not to compare yourself to others, the trick is be honest with YOU and to create a life what runs at the perfect pace for your ideal lifestyle. It is very hard to create life balance when you are not sure of what you are striving for. What are the most important areas of your life that are in need of attention - family, social life, community, study, personal development, finances, health, other interests?

Building self-awareness is the first step to making life-balancing choices. It starts with your needs and values for personal success. If you take a moment to step outside the overwhelm of our fast paced lifestyle you will most likely see that there is room for improvement. How important is the need for change, for balance, for more energy, for laughter, for quality time with special people, for more productive working strategies? How long can you keep going the way you are?

Here are some tips to get you started:

Look at your week and write down 1. absolutely everything you do with your time - at work, home, social, phone calls, TV, internet, procrastinating, etc. What do you absolutely 2. need in your life to be your best? Eg. Calmness, consistency, commitment, clarity, affection, to achieve, etc.

What are your core 3. values, and you do honour these values? Eg. Connection, health, adventure, spirituality, knowledge, passion, ethics, integrity, awareness, family, humour, etc.Stop long enough to really think and 4. write down what ‘balance’ looks like to you.Look back over the week and identify 5.

where you are wasting time, the areas that are not enhancing your life nor adding real value? Be honest!Use your needs and values as a 6. reference point for your decision-making.Start with a vision and then break it 7. down into small doable steps. Just add or delete something new each week... schedule it into the diary

otherwise change is unlikely.Priortise, learn to say ‘NO’, create 8. boundaries, get organized!Stop thinking and talking about it 9. and make it happen! If overwhelmed and stuck and 10. wanting to make changes sooner rather than later then I advise seeking some professional support – find a personal coach or mentor to assist you on your path.

Self-awareness + action + accountability = progressive life balance

As a Personal Coach I am very passionate about conscious living – if you are not sure why you do what you do, and what is and is not working for you, then how on earth can you be in tune, balanced and connected with you and the people around you?

There is no foolproof way to have life balance 24/7 – however if you have life balance in place most of the time you’re on the right path of living with integrity, self-honour, more joy and increased energy.

The happiest people are those that have their careers in balance with all of the other areas of their life!

Take the step to get it together! Create your ideal reality!

Nadine is available for one-on-one coaching at two locations – Sowelu, Paddington and Revive, Brisbane City. Alternatively telephone coaching is available worldwide. Please contact Nadine on 0408 50 11 60 or visit www.calibratecoaching.com for a free/no obligation consultation.

(ARA) - Losing weight is challenging. In fact, only 28 percent of people vowing to lose weight were successful, according to one study from the United Kingdom. Dedication and a few healthy tricks learned from the pros can be the key to successful weight loss.

Nutritionist, personal trainer and health educator, Cynthia Sass, MPH, RD, believes that traditional diets of low-calorie -- and often low-taste -- foods can leave dieters feeling hungry and unsatisfied.

In her New York Times best-selling book “Flat Belly Diet,” Sass offers several easy guidelines to help you stick to your weight-loss goals to become healthier and happier.

Sass Up Water

According to Sass, drinking plenty of water is an essential part of an everyday diet. “Many people find having eight glasses a day can be a challenge when less healthy options such as soda and sugary juices are easily available,” she says. Sass recommends her signature recipe called “Sassy Water” which infuses fresh ginger root, cucumbers, lemons and mint leaves into water. “We call it ‘Sassy’ because it’s a heck of a lot perkier than plain old water and the ingredients help calm and soothe your digestive system.”

Eating on the Go

Sass suggests eating several small meals and snacks throughout the day to regulate the body’s metabolism and stop the hunger pangs. “I really like Laughing Cow Mini Babybel cheeses, because they offer delicious, portable protein to help control food cravings and keep you feeling fuller longer,” she says. “Also, each serving is individually wrapped so weight-conscious

individuals know how much food they are getting without worrying about portion control.”

Get Moving

“Walking not only burns calories, it can also boost your mood,” says Sass. “Moderate-to-vigorous walking causes your brain to release hormones which are shown to improve your mood and raise your spirits, which can last for several hours.” Sass recommends finding ways to incorporate exercise into your daily routines, like a quick five-minute walk around your office after lunch.

Snack the Right Way

“Most people who work outside of the home eat lunch between noon and 1 p.m., but don’t make dinner until after 6 p.m., therefore, their hunger signals are in full-swing well before they eat their last meal for the day,” says Sass. “The fix is to plan your snack between lunch and dinner around 3 or 4 p.m.” While at the office, she suggests Laughing Cow Light cheese wedges as a great snack. “I like to pair it with sliced apple wedges and a few tablespoons of nuts for a tasty, filling, calorie-controlled way to snack.”

Don’t go it alone

Research shows that dieters, especially women, who share their resolutions with friends, family and coworkers are more successful at following their weight-loss goals. “People who maintain personal and community connections have better health than those who don’t,” says Sass.

By Dr. Dzung Price M.D.

Hormones are essential to the proper functioning of our bodies. They have a profound impact on our everyday health and well-being. As women we understand that our hormones fluctuate with our menstrual cycles.

A fluctuation or imbalance in your hormones affects a lot more than your mood. When our hormones are out of kilter we can experience a vast variety of symptoms like:

PMS, mood swings, depression, insomnia, •panic attacks, memory loss

stubborn weight gain, painful joints, bone •loss

headaches and migraines•

low libido, erectile problems in men•

incontinence, water retention, •endemetriosis, cysts, fibroids

unexplained fatigue, adrenal or thyroid •problems

higher risk of breast or prostate cancer•

irritating night sweats and hot flushes•

increased facial hair, hair loss, dry, •problem, or prematurely aging skin.

Unfortunately standard hormone tests do not always pick up hormone imbalances even though tests indicate that your hormones are normal, they can still be out of balance.

Hidden Problems That Affect Your Hormones Many of my patients have blamed their age for their hormone problems and are resigned to them

just being a factor of aging. Although it is true our hormones levels change as we grow older, age is often not the cause of the hormone imbalances we can experience. Imbalances are more likely due to other factors such as too much or too little body fat, chronic stress, not enough sleep, exposure to toxins (which are all around us, in the air, our water, our foods, even our homes), nutritional deficiences, prescription medications, prolonged illness, and excessive alcohol or sugar.

Hormones imbalance can also be triggered by other health problems like imbalances in the adrenal system, thyroid problems, insulin imbalance, and a deficiency of adult growth hormone.

Crazy Hormones Are Not Just A Female Problem Research has shown that more and more teenagers and young women regularly complain of problems that can be traced back to their hormones. That said, crazy hormones (as much as the boys would like to believe it) are not just a ‘female issue‘. Men experience many of the same hormone problems as women. As a man ages, testosterone levels fall and estrogen levels tend to rise. Studies have shown that the average 54 year old man has estrogen levels higher than those of the average 59 year old woman!

Hormonal imbalance in men can lead to urinary problems, erectile dysfunction, low sperm count, as well as many of the problems listed earlier, such as bone loss, inability to concentrate, poor memory, irritability and sleep problems. Hormone imbalance is also a major cause of prostate conditions, including prostate cancer.

Creating Hormonal Health Like all other aspects of our health, our hormones respond best to a less toxic, more healthful, natural and balanced lifestyle which includes daily exercise, adequate rest and relaxation, stress management practices, enough pure water and good nutrition.

When our hormones are in healthful balance, we enjoy improved wellbeing, emotional balance, and can even think better.

Following simple nutritional guidelines will not only support your hormones, they will also help maintain the health of your adrenal glands, which play a key role in your body’s hormone balance. Good nutrition also strengthens your immune system, helps clear your body of the toxins that can affect your hormones and give

you lots more energy. Here are a few things I recommend to my patients.

Eat lots of fresh vegetables and fruits1. , mostly raw or lightly stir fried.

Choose whole grains2. (such as brown rice, wholemeal bread etc.), which are high in fibre as well as essential nutrients, and slow down the flow of insulin.

Get more essential fatty acids3. found in cold-pressed virgin olive oil, nuts, fish (especially sardines, rainbow, trout salmon, mackerel), flaxseed, and dark green leafy vegetables to control inflammatory hormones.

Include high calcium foods4. in your diet, such as raw almonds, dark green leafy vegetables, cultured yogurt or organic milk.

Include foods high in phytoestrogens5. , including tofu and soy nut butter

Get more of your protein from beans, 6. pulses and lentils, and raw nuts, which provide essential fatty acids, quality protein and fibre. Fibre helps to bind

estrogen so that high levels do not circulate in the blood.

Avoid or reduce foods that promote 7. hormone imbalances, such as fried foods, milk and milk products, red meat, refined grains (white rice, white flour, baked goods etc. (refined grains trigger rapid production of insulin, which is followed by the release of cortisone as the blood sugar quickly drops), and sugar. Sugar, especially refined sugars, upset your blood sugar balance, ‘confuse’ proper hormonal activity, and encourage

the growth of harmful bacteria.

If your hormones are already out of kilter it will probably take more than diet alone to restore the correct balance. There is no single solution to hormonal problems, and conventional hormone replacement therapy can have harmful side effects. There are good drug free treatment alternatives that assist with rebalancing hormones. Personally, I have achieved fantastic results for my patients using the Hormone Balancing Program. The Renew-You Centre for Wellbeing and Longevity’s Hormonal Balancing Program provides individualised hormone treatment programs. The program is based on totally natural therapies to address each person’s particular health and hormonal issues for optimal results.

Put your hormone problems behind you, and experience new health, vitality and emotional freedom.

Balance readers are invited to experience the benefits of Renew-You’s personalised Hormone Balancing Program for yourselves. Call 1300 853 006 to book your hormone consultation at our Gold Coast or Brisbane Centre. BROCCOLI SPROUTS THE SUPER FOODBy Deborah Wray

Broccoli is one of the ‘leafy greens’ that are considered to be amongst the most nutritious.

Broccoli Sprouts are even more nutritious than broccoli itself because sprouting any seed increases the nutritional value considerably. So one tablespoon of broccoli sprouts is equal to a large portion of mature broccoli.

Broccoli Sprouts have been well researched internationally in the past years and the following conclusions have been reached. Broccoli Sprouts act as:

Cancer blockers – Prevents and slows down various cancers including breast, prostate, leukemia and melanomas.

Cardio protectors – Decreases inflammation in the heart, arteries and kidneys and also drops blood pressure.

Cataract prevention – It was found that people who ate broccoli sprouts twice a week had a 23% lower risk of cataracts.

Broccoli Sprouts were also found to help in rheumatoid arthritis prevention, assist the immune system, help build stronger bones due to its high calcium and vitamin C content and to prevent ulcers.

The good news is the highly nutritious and beneficial Broccoli Sprout is also very tasty. Broccoli Sprouts are a wonderful addition to any salad, sandwich or as a garnish.

The delicious and nutritious Broccoli Sprout is definitely one of natures super foods and can easily be added to your daily diet. A much better alternative than taking tablets!

You can find certified organic Broccoli Sprouts in your Wray Organic store at Newmarket and

Indooroopilly.

By Mark Blomeley

As a health and fitness professional people often share with me their “horror” stories about personal training which often leads to the question, how do I find a good personal trainer?

To me personal training is about working with clients on all aspects of their health and fitness so that clients can achieve the very best results. A personal trainer should not only give you a good workout but should also show you how to maximise your training by complementing it with nutritional advice, and a support system for when you aren’t with your trainer.

The fact of the matter is that finding a good personal trainer can be an absolute nightmare.

I know this because I try to find good personal trainers for my studio on a regular basis. So when you’re searching for a personal trainer it should be more about finding a good gym/studio (with a great personal training system) and less about the actual trainer.

You see ultimately if you are looking at personal training as a way to achieve a goal that is medium or long term you can’t afford to take a punt on an individual within a highly competitive, high turnover industry. When you are in a big gym environment, 90% of the time these days the personal trainers are individual business owners. This means they effectively compete against each other for the clientele of the gym. This is NOT in the best interest of the client, nor are there the necessary systems in place to address all the areas required for your success.

I’m not saying there aren’t good trainers in these gyms, I’m simply saying that this model is flawed and is hit and miss. So what you’re looking for in a studio/gym for personal training is a program for your health, which includes nutrition, accountability, support, a full fitness program and regular health/fitness check ups. If you are provided with this then there’s a good chance you’re on a good thing!

Reviving No Gap Physiotherapy

Page 6: Balanced Inner North March

By Diana Vela

In life we have all trekked the exhilarating mountain in the sometimes-frightening journey of relationships. We can’t avoid it. Life is a swirl of millions of people relating. To our chagrin, it is in relationship that we have the most upsets, suffering disappointments, anguish, and heartache. Of course, we also experience wonderful, enlivening, loving moments and then out of nowhere, here comes pain surfacing once again.

Most relationships are directed by constructs from family, culture, influential beliefs, decisions from life. So regardless of the thousands of books on relationship and all the advice, pointers and relationship tools given by writers, counselors, relatives and friends, there seem to always be something, a crisis, a breakdown that comes up in relationship to confront, process, suppress, or try to make the best of. We all are moving along in the wide evolutionary spectrum of relating. Yet in this spectrum an extraordinary evolved state has emerged and is now available to everyone.

I want to introduce you to a beautiful form of relating with another that is not common in this world. It is available for those ready to embark into a spiritually conscious relationship, an alliance that is congruent, in harmony, with our true self, a union we were meant to live. It involves embracing into life the existential state of our Self, in turn, recognizing and relating with another purely in this way. It involves a bit more than just this and I will get into that a bit later.

If we look deep within, to the depth of our Soul, We will discover an immense yearning, a vacuum of longing. This yearning is Soul’s

desperate cry for help, as we have not yet tapped the source of true sacred and fulfilling love in relationships. Some have set a course, looking for answers and solutions, concluding it a hopeless quest. I have witnessed people’s deep pain, numbness, and suffering from years of not having filled this inner yearning in their lives, not knowing what to do.

Presently there is love, much love, but is there really a connection that fills our Soul’s yearnings? Most of us are blindly trying, attempting, making the same mistakes over and over again until we eventually conclude we must make the best of it and be satisfied with whatever love we do experience. We hopelessly succumb to what life offers. In a state of despondence, the Soul contracts within itself, hopeless of ever being recognized, of having the freedom to express it’s immense love. When this happens our innocent spirit, our light of life, dims or shuts down.

There is a way to bring back the radiance in your eyes, the laughter in your voice, the endless love inside you. There is an answer. You can now wake up to a life of freedom to fully love by simply being yourself. You can at last, bare your innocence, release your spirit.

The answer and directions are found inside your Heart. It is waiting to assist you in uniting the Soul (divine essence) with the wisdom of the Heart. It is waiting to reveal the relationship within your Self that is the necessary foundation, the source for whole relationship. Once Soul and Heart unite, there is no stopping the fulfillment. Once established in ultimate partnership, this union has the framework to bring forth magnificence that only God can create.

The perfection of relationship is available when you chose to have nothing less than the highest in resonance with the expression of both your Heart and Soul... nothing less. In this state, the Soul shares endless love with another in open recognition of each other’s divine essence. Brilliant love beyond any love known is experienced. The resulting love and relationship is deep, beautiful, holy, honest and pure. It is real, authentically real.

Are you ready to begin this journey of sacred love and relationship?

Here are a few simple but powerful insights and qualities of relating discovered in the many years of my work with relationships that if utilized, followed and infused with love, can begin your profound journey to sacred love and relationships. In committing to the highest creation of love with your beloved, remember that the ‘beloved’ is not only the ‘beloved’ in life, but also the inner ‘beloved’ inside your heart. . In the realm of sacred love there are no secrets. If you feel a bit separate from yourself or from your beloved, communicate with love what is in your Heart. Speak only words from the Heart. Do not embellish. This will begin to bridge the gap and bring you together in sacred union once again. . Do not hold back or add to yourself in sacred relationship. Simply be who you are. Allow the deep love in relationship to bring out the true you. As you love your beloved unconditionally, the true Soul begins to emerge knowing it is safe to be its true Self. It is vital to eliminate expectations, pictures, and judgments in the relationship. They limit, block, and imprison the Soul’s essence and full expression. They contribute to separation in relationship, to closing down the fire and spirit of the Soul.

Discover, enjoy and delight in the unique spirit of the person you are with, as well as the uniqueness in their soul’s expression and journey. There is something so special in each of us. It is the touch of the divine expressing in every one of us. See it in your beloved and even with yourself, enjoy it with

all of your Heart. Allow your beloved and yourself the freedom of soul’s unique journey and special expressions that is necessary for spiritual development. This is true freedom and support in relationships where both are expressing, growing and evolving true to their own expression. It will be beautiful and most fulfilling, as love relationship deepens and grows as the individuals deepen and grow.

Be in awe of the essence and beauty of God’s creation in your beloved. Adore, honor and hold each other sacred. The pure essence of your beloved is a gift to you to share divine love and enjoyment together in the unending beauty of this created world.

Gaze into the eyes of your beloved frequently. As the saying goes, ‘the eyes are the windows of the Soul’. Connect and merge with the Soul of your beloved as frequently as possible. Do not let a day go by without connecting. You will discover depth of love, richness, and intimacy beyond your dreams. It is the time two Souls connect in the purest essence of eternal love.

Remember the preciousness and sweetness of shared laughter, lightness and play. Don’t take life and all its complexity too seriously. As one partner contributes depth of soul, passion and a sacred love, so the other can shed the light that makes brilliant the beauty of life and lifts all our experiences to pure delight into the highest ecstasy as beloved Souls immersed in love.

These are a just few qualities to bring to your relationship to assist in the initial transition. Remember, follow the urgings of your Heart, allow Soul the freedom to live and express. Do not hold back the natural expression of your love. Most importantly, allow love to be the foundation and leading force in your relationships and in all of life. Allow immense love to flow outwardly, embracing and filling your beloved, for love is the ultimate communication of the Soul.

This could be the beginning of an incredible conscious journey of sacred relationship in the Heart and Soul of your beloved.

Shop around1. – Check your junk mail for supermarket specials. Most people live within 5 or 10 minutes of at least 2 of these, so whoever has the most items that you use on sale should get your business that week. Saving $2 at the pump on your petrol is good, but saving $5 on your cleaning products etc at the competition’s supermarket is better.

Keep a notebook on or next to the 2. fridge – Every time you use something in the pantry or fridge, add it to the list so you can restock when you are at the supermarket

Plan your meals3. – Take 10 minutes to sit down and plan your meals for the week. You don’t have to specify which meal is for which day, but a list of 7 meals attached to the fridge, makes the decision a lot easier when you get home, and less tempting to use pre-packaged or takeaway food.

Make a list4. – Once you have worked out your meals, the ingredients make the basis for your shopping list. Take a look in the pantry and the fridge as well as in the laundry and bathrooms for things that are running low. Add the things that you have run out of during the previous week and hey presto – there’s your list!

Break your list into supermarket 5. sections – Put all of your fruit and vegies, dairy items, deli items etc together on the list so you don’t forget items and have to backtrack in the supermarket.

Buy in bulk6. –When something you use is on sale, stock up. If you have a chest freezer, buy meat in bulk either late in the afternoon or first up in the morning, or go to one of the larger butchers and stock up. They usually have great specials when you buy in bulk.

Don’t shop when you are hungry7. – We’ve all heard it before, but it’s true. If you go shopping when you are hungry, you are more likely to impulse buy foods because they are appealing to your hungry stomach.

Take a pen8. – Cross off each item as it goes into the trolley. The things that aren’t crossed off are the only things you need to look at. Plus, there’s less chance you will forget something.

Only buy what’s on your list9. – Don’t waste your hard earned time or money on things that aren’t on your list.

Shop in quieter times – 10. Shopping during the week first thing on Saturday or Sunday morning. There are less people to clog the aisles and the registers so you will be done in no time.

If all of that still seems too hard, you only need to do items 2,3 and 4 and then give Hectic Helpers a call and we will take care of the shopping for you. We’ll even deliver it you at home and put it away!

(ARA) – In today’s economy, when one overlooked deadline can cost you business or your job, and one late bill can lower your credit score, it’s important to have the edge that organization gives you in both your personal and professional lives. In fact, 65 percent of working moms believe that being well organized will help their families save money, according to a survey by Braun Research on behalf of Office Depot. Monica Ricci, Office Depot’s organizing expert offers a few tips to help you organize: *Create a bill-paying system. In today’s economy, on-time payments have never been

more important, yet over half (58 percent) of working moms say they’ve forgotten to pay a bill on time. Save money by creating a bill paying station in your home. Set up an “Inbox” and “Outbox” for all your bills. *Trade in outdated technology for cash. Outdated computer peripherals, cameras, monitors and other equipment can clutter your work environment and slow you down. Take advantage of technology trade-in programs that allow you to bring in certain electronic items for a cash credit. Office Depot’s Tech Trade-In Service provides store gift cards for customers that trade in their old technology. Simply visit www.officedepot.com/techtradein

Simple Secrets to Work Smarter and Save Money by Getting Organized

Dispelling the Weight Loss MythsBy Jenni OBrien (Nutriente)

There are so many weight loss products and “solutions” on the market today, that it can seem complicated and confusing. Often they don’t give you the results you expect, can be inconvenient and restrictive in their food choices.

However weight loss can be simple, effective and should include enjoyable, tasty, fresh food. All you need to know is what types of food to eat and how to combine these into quick and tasty recipes. Let’s dispel some weight loss myths to get you started on your path to good health.

Myth No. 1. Protein is just for bodybuilders and weight-lifters.

Protein is an essential part of any healthy diet. Protein helps to fuel, build and repair your body, helps your body burn fat for energy and provides sustained energy levels after meals.

Myth No. 2. Fats make you fat.

Fats do not make you fat, carbohydrates make you fat. Healthy fats from fish, nuts and seeds are important for good health and actually increase your body’s ability to burn fat for energy. Eat them in moderation and avoid fried fats and animal fats – these increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. Carbohydrates like bread, pasta, rice and sweets should be reduced or avoided to achieve effective weight loss.

Myth No.3: Skipping meals and eating low calorie diets are a good way to lose weight.

These “strategies” can actually slow your metabolism and make weight loss more difficult. Instead eat small amounts of vegetables and protein regularly throughout the day for steady fat burning.

Consulting a health expert such as a Naturopath, will help you to make your weight loss simple and achievable. Nutriente Natural Health Clinic provides a range of specialised services and products including nutritional education, recipes, meal plans, herbal medicine and vitamin and mineral supplements. The customised weight loss programs will ensure you achieve your weight loss goals.

Simply call the Nutriente clinic to book your appointment with one our expert Naturopaths, and begin your journey to great health.

As the nights get a little cooler and winter fashion is emerging in to shops it’s time to reassess the beauty regime and overall look, below are my five main tips for getting the most out of your look in time for winter.

Moisturise1. ! You may need to get a slightly richer

moisturiser for winter as naturally as the climate becomes cooler it also becomes dryer which is exactly what happens to your skins. If you keep up that moisture you skin will hold a lovely natural glow all year round.

Look after your lips2. Chapped lips are not a good look they

can also be painful and irritating, by looking after your lips constantly with a hydrating protecting balm such as pawpaw ointment, chapping is less likely to occur.

Exfoliating 3. is always important but more so in

the cooler months as the skin generally gets so dry! By exfoliating often the moisturiser is going work a lot harder for you and the natural glow is easier to attain.

Generally skin tone4. becomes a little lighter during

Autumn and Winter so going down a shade in your foundation is sometimes necessary to avoid that dark face pale body look.

Deeper shades of eye and lip5. colours really come to the fore with

rich plums and deep berry tones being the colour palettes of choice. Remember if your

eyes are dark lips should be plan and vice versa. Too much is sometimes just too much. Stick to these simple tips and Winter will be like a wonderland with gorgeous skin and flawless makeup.

Top 5 Winter Beauty Tips-It’s just around the corner-

From bestselling astrologer Dadhichi Toth comes the definitive guide to star sign compatibilities

Dadhichi’s new book is now on sale at major bookstores including K-Mart, Big W, Borders and most newsagents.

IS HE YOUR SOUL MATE exhaustively shows you

How to find and keep your perfect • match Who you’re best suited to• Star signs to avoid• How to make your sex life sizzle! •

You have to sort out some financial issues this month, particularly in the first week. It’s best not to get too emotional or you might miss some im-portant aspects of what needs to be done to se-cure your financial security. On the romantic side of things however, it’s looking good for you and between the 15th and 17th you can expect Cupid to put in a good word for you.

You’re feeling luxurious, passionate and in a very generous mood. Don’t ditch your friends however for a newcomer on the scene as this may be short-lived. You are flighty, reactive and perhaps overly passionate with the wrong person. Expect some wonderful liaisons and romantic interludes after the 10th.

You like traveling so it’s not a bad idea early in the year to get away and make yourself scarce. It’s best to get things in order in the first couple of weeks of the month and make your break after the 20th. You may actually have an interesting rendez-vous in a distant place.

Your career is spotlighted this month with Venus moving in the upper part of your horoscope. After the 21st things really get going and you’re likely to find yourself in a better position, an interview for a better job or negotiating a pay rise. March should be a good month for you.

Try as hard as you will to bite your tongue, you may find yourself embroiled in bitter disputes with someone you love dearly. There’s no point in creating a rod for your own back by saying more than you need to. You could be in the right but hold back and let the dust settle before saying your piece. The period of the 4th to the 10th should be pretty dicey as far as your relationships are con-cerned.

You are in a serious mood, particularly between the 11th and 15th. Try to keep things light and breezy and don’t react to people’s opinions about the how and why you should be doing things a differ-ent way. If you have confidence that what you’ve done in the past works for you stick to your guns. Your sexual energies are much stronger after the 22nd.

This is an excellent month for friendship, romance and even reconnecting with people from your past. You have several opportunities which is evi-denced by Jupiter, Mercury and Mars in your ro-mance zone. It appears this is going to be a busy month so you need to carefully organize your diary especially after the 23rd.

You are coming to the end of a rather intense work and/or relationship cycle. This is going to give you an opportunity to kick up your heels and really sit back and relax for a while. Your habit however may be to take on more work and this could be a mistake. Follow the lead of your lover or spouse, particularly after the 14th when a bit of advice giv-en to you will help set a new pathway for you and a positive one at that.

You want things to move ahead quickly this month but you may be obstructed by people at work, close friends or even relatives who have their own agenda. You’ll need to be ruthless if you’re going to achieve your objectives without interference. Between the 19th and 23rd you’ll be rather emo-tional about some decision. Get a second opinion before committing yourself to a path of action.

The period of the 6th till the 9th is a rather intense financial period. You’re probably doing too much and saying yes to too many people. When are you going to do something for yourself? It’s a mat-ter of committing to yourself, and understanding that you need to be gentle and kind to No. 1 if the Universe is going to co-operate with you. Some good fortune could arrive around the 14th or 15th. Remain aware of opportunities that present them-selves at this time.

Put your foot on the brakes between the 2nd and the 5th. You might think an idea has been perfect-ly thought through only to discover later on that there are several factors that you had completely overlooked. Listen to what’s being said rather than superimposing your own imagination on a situation, especially if this has to do with some emotional or romantic scenario. Finances fluctu-ate until the 11th, after which some better oppor-tunities for stability come your way.

Don’t let the past encroach on the present. Some-one could bring up some old events which could open wounds that you thought had healed. If you can avoid someone that you were once involved with, it’s best to stay out of their line of fire. On a positive note however you are compassionate and will want to do something beneficial for a friend. Make yourself available to assist a loved one after the 8th.

EXPERIENCE THE DIFFERENCEThreading is a hair removal treatment that has been practices in Asia and in Middle Eastern cultures for centuries. A cult favourite in London and New York, for aficionados it gives precise shaping, a four to six week regrowth period and, most importantly, less pain than waxing and plucking.

The eco-friendly treatment involves twisting and rolling cotton thread over the skin to remove a row of hair each time. Rani says the benefit of threading is that everything comes out. “It even removes the little hairs you sometimes can’t see and the result lasts longer than waxing, with no swelling or redness.” she says

An energetic and friendly woman, Rani was coaxed back into threading soon after the birth of her first child last year to meet the demands of her 100 plus word of mouth clients.

Rani has been threading since 1985 and only saw her first brow wax when she came to Australia in 1996. “I didn’t know you could do waxing on eyebrows ill I came to Australia to do my beauty course.” She laughs

After owning three salons in Rembura Phul in the Punjab region of India, Rani moved t0o Brisbane and undertook further beauty therapy training. She has been threading here for seven years and, to her knowledge, is the only one performing it here in Brisbane.

“People might be threading from home or for friends, but they are not doing it professionally because they don’t have an Australian beauty diploma.” She explains

Rani picks up a normal spool of cotton and, securing on end in her teeth, winds a length of thread around one hand. The technique

is difficult to see when lying down but Rani works quickly and deftly and the cotton makes a humming noise as it rolls close to the skin and removes the hairs.

It isn’t as painful as waxing and not nearly as tear-inducing as tweezing, but you can feel some of the more stubborn hairs twist and pull she explains.

“The whole treatment is over in 10 minutes, sometimes more because I talk too much.” says Rani

Rani explains regrowth is dependent on the type of the hair, “if your hair type is softer regrowth normally takes 4 to 5 weeks. If your hair is quite stubborn, it might comes back in 2 weeks but over time your hair will become softer”

This month Rani is offering an introductory Pamper Packages including

NEW DIABETES SERVICES IN ACTION

The local community can now enjoy an even more convenient way to help manage their diabetes. Newmarket Guardian Pharma-cy has joined the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) sub-agency group which enables the pharmacy to administer subsi-dised diabetes supplies.

It is estimated that 1.5 million Australians have diabetes with around 275 more people diagnosed every day. About 85-90% of these people have Type 2 diabetes. The NDSS of-fers subsidised diabetes products to almost 150,000 people with diabetes in Queensland alone.

Newmarket Guardian Pharmacy has also been selected as part of a pilot program, the Diabetes Medication Assistance Ser-vice (NDSS). The provision of this service through the local pharmacy has previously demonstrated that the pharmacist can assist and support people with diabetes to better manage their condition. The pharmacist re-

views and monitors diabetes medicines and resolves medicine related problems as well as assisting with self management and con-tinuity of care.

“We are excited to launch these new ser-vices and look forward to providing people with diabetes in our community with the utmost care, support and assistance through NDSS and DMAS” said John Lim, proprietor of Newmarket Guardian Pharmacy.

The NDSS is FREE for people with dia-betes to register. There are currently only a limited number of subsidised spaces for pa-tients to participate in DMAS. For more in-formation, please ring the staff at Newmarket Guardian Pharmacy on 3356 3964.

*The other services Newmarket Guardian Pharmacy provides are FREE delivery to the local area, Webster-pak, script management services, Home Medicines Re-view, Pharmacy Asthma Management Service (PAMS), the Xndo weight management program and a resident Justice of the Peace
