MiQuale Lewis Rushing for the Record: MiQuale Lewis (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider H.S.), a fifth-year senior on the Ball State football team, has rushed for 3,432 yards in his career and needs 571 rushing yards to become the Cardinals all-time leading career rusher . . . He needs 52 rushing yards to pass Bernie Parmalee, who is second on Ball State’s career charts with 3,483 from 1987-90 . . . Marcus Merriweather is Ball State’s career leading rusher with 4,002 yards from 1999-2002 . . . Merriweather and Lewis are both alums of Fort Wayne Snider H.S.

Lewis Rushing for Another Record: MiQuale Lewis rushed for his 31st career touchdown at Purdue, which ties him for second on Ball State’s career rushing touchdowns chart . . . Punter U. Continues: Scott Kovanda (Hartland, Mich./Detroit Central Catholic H.S.) has punted 11 times for a 46.7 average this season and tallied a season long punt of 55 yards against Southeast Missouri State . . . Kovanda ranks first in the Mid-American Conference and is tied for ninth in the nation this season . . . Ball State opponents have returned five punts for only 1.8 yards this season, which is tied for 16th in the nation . . . Kovanda had a career long punt of 63 yards vs. North Texas in 2009 . . . Ball State has a long tradition of outstanding punters . . . Brad Maynard (1993-96) set the Ball State career record with a 44.2 average, was a consensus All-American and is in his 14th year in the National Football League . . . Reggie Hodges (2000-04) punted for 10,210 yards and is in his sixth year in the NFL . . . Robert Eddins Ruling the Defense: Robert Eddins (Detroit, Mich./Crockett H.S.), a senior defensive end for the Cardinals, recovered the second fumble of his career in the third quarter of Ball State’s season opener vs. Southeast Missouri State . . . The turnover led to a Ball State touchdown . . . Eddins was also credited with a forced fumble vs. SEMO . . . BSU 31, Toledo 30 Oct. 9, 1993 at BSU -- BSU was behind 30-3In Ball State’s 1993 Homecoming game vs. Toledo, the Cardinals fell behind 16-3 at the half, and Toledo scored two third-quarter touchdowns to take a 30-3 lead with 4:10 remaining in the third stanza. Ball State’s rally began with 2:24 left in the third quarter on a 22-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Mike Neu to receiver Brian Oliver. A Tony Nibbs’ two-point conversion run made the score 30-11 and that was all the scoring in the third stanza. BSU started its fourth-quarter scoring with a Neu to Oliver 98-yard TD pass with 11:02 left in the game. The Matt Swart extra point kick was good and closed the gap to 30-18. With 2:40 left in the contest, Neu completed a 15-yard scoring strike to receiver Kyle Robinson. Followed by Swart’s extra point kick, the Cardinals were down 30-24. Ball State’s final score came on a Neu to Erin McCray 6-yard pass as time expired in the game. Swart’s extra point kick with no time left on the clock gave the Cardinals a 31-30 win.

John B. and June M. Scheumann Stadium

donated $4 million to the campaign. John

Scheumann was a former Ball State football player

The Pat and Patricia Kozel Media Center was

dedicated in honor of the Kozel’s, who made

a $1.25 million gift.

Ball State’s football team’s locker rooms, meeting

rooms and trainingrooms are housed in the

John W. and Janice B. Fisher Football

Training Complex. John, who served as the

chairman of the fundraising campaign,

and his wife, donated $510,000 to the stadium. John Fisher passed

away June 28, 2009, and the Fisher family
