If your child is absent from school, for any reason, please let our school office know using one of the following
options: Phone: 385 4163 / option 3 text 027 422 8032 email: [email protected]
Or notify us via our website: http://www.banksave.school.nz/absences.html or via our Tiqbiz app: www.tiqbiz.com
If your child arrives at school after 9:00 am they must check in at the office. This saves a lot of phone calls for
unexplained absences in order to ensure the safety of all our children
Dear Parents and Whānau
Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou – a warm welcome to
you all.
Indecent Exposure We are really happy to announce that the man we
wrote about in last week’s newsletter has been
apprehended.
Pizza Next Tuesday children will be able to have a pizza
lunch. On Monday your child should
have brought home a pizza order
form. These forms need to be returned
by Friday 30 June - this Friday! Pizza’s
cost $5 each - the money must come in
with the pizza order. Check the order form out - there
are a range of flavours available. Eat pizza - stay
happy!
Health and Safety Access to school grounds in school hours A gentle reminder that no adults or teenagers should
be cutting through our school grounds during our
school day (8:30am - 3:30pm). If you live locally and
have teenage children who may have been doing this
can you please remind them of this guideline. Thank
you.
The Canterbury Cross Country Last week we had two children, Holly B and Harry B
running in the Canterbury Cross Country Champs.
They had some tough competition and represented our
school really well.

Improve Christchurch & the Red Zone Children never cease to impress me. On Monday I had
the privilege of hearing a presentation put together by
five of our students where they shared their vision for
improving and regenerating
Christchurch and in particular the red
zone. This afternoon Keegan, Eden,
Danielle, Joel and Lakena will be
presenting their ideas to a group of city
councillors. Well done team.

MY SCHOOL RULES
COMPETITION at The Palms Woo hoo...yay….. good job...ka wani ke (fabulous)
...Yes that’s right we are still in the lead! A huge
thank you to all the families and extended whānau
who have got behind this competition and are madly
collecting The Palm’s receipts for us. I was at The
Palms on Saturday and I was so tempted when the
lady in front of me said she didn’t want her receipt to
ask for it. I didn’t go that far but I did pick up a couple
of receipts in trolleys and I do have all my friends and
family collecting them for me.
First prize is $3000; we could certainly use that
money! We still have a week and a half left; if Team
NZ can win the America’s cup then we can win this
competition. Kia kaha e hoa ma! (let’s go team)

Social Worker Since the beginning of the year we have had John, our
social worker, at school two mornings a week. I know
many families have met with him and have found his
support really valuable. I am sad to say John is
leaving us next week; he will be replaced by Anne
Gibling. Anne worked with us last year and she knows
many of our families. Parents can self-refer to Anne
by emailing [email protected] or phoning
027 820 4617.
Next term Anne will be running a parent session on
coping with anxious children. More details will be
published early in Term 3.

would like to use the creche ring the office on
3854 163 to let us know how many children will be
coming.
Lucy from Tuis enjoys all her learning activities. She
always tries her best to be better than before. She is a
thoughtful learner who takes her time, doesn’t rush
and produces quality work.
We are so proud of you Lucy
El Gregoe and You’ve Got the Power Last Thursday the Junior Module had a wonderful
magical experience in our library. There were
powerful messages about bullying and being a hero as
well as how to use our WITS.
Many of us were left wondering about the magical
tricks and just how El Gregoe made things disappear
and then reappear as something else. Thank you to all
of the parents who paid for their child to attend this
experience. It was so much more than we had
anticipated.

Matariki We had about 100 families joining us for this
wonderful night. The school sure looks different in the
dark (as many of us
found out!) The sight of
twinkling whetū (stars)
the sound of waiata
(songs), the smell and
taste of kai (food) and
the feeling of whānau
(family) was very evident last Thursday evening. We
were delighted that so many children, parents,
grandparents, brothers and sisters could join us. Each
of the rooms showcased their leaning about Matariki
as can be seen in the photos.
Healthy Heros and Keeping Ourselves
Safe Notices will be coming home with Junior Module
