DOOR OF HOPE WEEKEND

Last year, we introduced a new format for our post-abortion ministry through a weekend retreat. God was so faithful and used it to restore and heal the women who came. We plan to have another retreat in early 2019, and will be choosing a date

soon. If you or someone you know is struggling from the hurt, shame, and guilt of a past abortion, please contact Kathy about going on this retreat (kkay@firstchoicewmc.com or 334.260.8010). There is no charge to attend, as this is simply an extension of our current post-abortion ministry. We believe God desires freedom and wholeness for all His children, so please pray that this retreat would be an opportunity for many women to experience that!

LIFE TREE PROJECT

Each year at Christmas time, local businesses and churches will serve our ministry by hosting a “Life Tree.” These small Christmas trees are filled with ornaments, each naming a baby item that will go into our on-site baby boutique. These items will be

earned by moms and dads who participate in our parenting education program. So, be on the lookout for our Life Trees at locations like Chick-fil-A, Chappy’s, local

doctor’s offices, and more… and if your business would be interested in hosting one, please contact Jenna at jenna@firstchoicewmc.com or 334.260.8010.

CARE NET CONFERENCE

In September, we were thankful we had the opportunity to send our entire staff to the Care Net Conference in Atlanta. Care Net is a national association of more than 1,100 pregnancy centers like ours, and it was so refreshing to have our whole staff there learning, growing,

and being encouraged in this important work. We were able to bring home so much valuable information to help us improve our work here in Montgomery, because sometimes, it’s import-ant to take time to work ON the ministry, not just IN the ministry. Your support helps make opportunities like this possible. Thank you!

PRENATAL CLINIC

We are so excited to update you that we have begun a new partnership with Baptist Health where we are now able to offer

an initial prenatal visit to every client who has a positive pregnancy test.

For a woman who is in a situation vulnerable to abortion, it is a huge opportunity that we are able to support her through this next step, in addition to the ultrasound we have already been providing. We are so thankful to Baptist who is donating staff support and labwork to make this possible for our clients.

Additionally, our clients who participate are being referred, if they are interested, to continue their care through Baptist’s Centering Pregnancy prenatal care program. This incredible program focuses on group sessions through a woman’s pregnancy, and through that environment is able to provide additional education and support to the client. We see this program as a great fit for a lot of our clients who lack significant support from their own circle of family or friends.

This is community partnership at its finest, and we anticipate God using this in big ways!

WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST STAFF NURSE, JULIA SMITH!

Julia is working with us part-time. She graduated from nursing school at Auburn University in

2009. She and her husband, Grady, and their three children moved to Montgomery in 2016. Grady is the pastor at Gateway Baptist Church. Julia says she loves using her medical skills and training to meet physical needs of our clients while also getting to share the love of Christ. We are excited to welcome her to our team.
