VOLUME 22 ISSUE 12 December 01, 2017

“FOR THE GLORY OF GOD AND THE GOOD OF THE COMMUNITY”

“IF NOT NOW WHEN”

FROM THE PASTORS CLUTTERED DESK

IT’S ON MY HEART

“The shepherds went back glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been

told to them” Luke 2:20). “…the wise men left for their own country by another way” (Matthew 2:12b).

The personal encounter with Jesus, Saviour, Messiah and Lord (titles given to Jesus by the angels) completely

changed the lives of the shepherds and the wise men. Notice the shepherds no longer had fear but joy in

their hearts so much so they left and on their way, wherever they went, “glorifying and praising God” for

what they had just experienced. The wise men after truly worshiping the Christ child, probably not the true

intent of their visit, and having presented their gifts, departed another way.

How can anyone who has truly encountered Jesus Christ not be totally changed to the extent of glorifying

and praising God as did the shepherds? How can anyone truly experience a face to face encounter with the

Saviour and not leave walking a different way as did the wise men? Yet from general observation of many

professing Christians and church members this is sadly not the case. It is so easy to keep silent about our

meeting Jesus and how He has changed our lives completely. This kind of behavior is testifying to the world

that He is not really that important to us, that Christ makes little difference in our lives.

Note that the wise men after meeting Jesus were changed to the extent they walked another way. Each of us

should ask the question, are we truly walking a different way than those in the world around us who have

never professed Christ at all?

Let us be challenged that with the celebration of Christ’s birth to also celebrate our own personal encounter

and experience with living Lord.

“Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere” that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived a per-

fect life, died on the cross, was resurrected from the dead, all of this to save us from sin and hell.

Ella Rae and I wish to each of you a very meaningful and joyous Christmas Season. We both love and appreci-

ate you for the warm welcome given to us at Beaver Dam.

Happy Birthday from your Church

Youth News

Wow, it's December and we are working hard on the Christmas Dinner Theatre. On Sunday, December 17th, we will gather in the fellowship hall for the production of "The Inn Crowd." Af-ter the production, you will be treated to a deli-cious dinner, gifts under the Christmas tree and maybe a few more treats. So make plans now to attend.

I would like to say thank you to all who partici-pated in the Hallelujah Night at Peter's Creek on October 31st. There were over 700 hotdogs served, more than 25 trunks decorated, and tons of candy handed out to the little ones. This is a special mission for our community and it is great to see so many participating.

In this publication of the church newsletter you will find a list of college students and military addresses. Each month the youth prepare a card or a little treat for them from the church. It is very exciting for them to receive mail, so if you would like to drop a note in the mail, here are the addresses. Say a little prayer each day for them also.

Thank you for your support of the youth. Merry Christmas to each of you!
