Sa aking unang pamumuno sa aking panunungkulan bilang punong barangay ay
higit akong nagpapasalamat sa ating Panginoon at sa aking kabarangay. Aking

TANGGAPAN NG PUNUMBAYAN
MENSAHE
Mahalaga ang kamulatan ng mamamayan sa mga impormasyon ukol sa
bawat barangay ng Atimonan. Ang magbigay ng konkreto at angkop na mga
datos ang layunin ng Socio-Economic Profile ng mga Barangay. Ito rin ang
magsisilbing matibay na batayan upang mabalangkas ng Pamahalaang Bayan
ang mga programang pangkaunlaran na ang mamamayan ang higit na
makikinabang.
Ang ating mamamayan ang salamin ng kaunlaran ng bayan kaya ang
progreso ng apatnapu’t dalawang barangay ay pinapahalagahan ng Lokal na
Pamahalaan ng Atimonan. Ang Socio-economic Profile ang testimonya na patuloy
ang pag-unlad ng ating bayan.

KATANGIAN AT INTERPRETASYON SA OPISYAL NA LOGO NG BARANGAY
Ang opisyal na sagisag (logo) ay binubuo ng dalawang hugis bilog, isa(1) sa loob at isa
sa labas. Ang espasyo sa gitna ng dalawang (2) hugis bilog ay nakasulat ang mga
sumusunod:
BARANGAY SOKOL – pangalan ng barangay at nakalagay sa itaas na bahagi ng
hugis bilog.
ATIMONAN, QUEZON – pangalan ng bayan at probinsyang nakakasakop sa
Barangay at nakalagay sa ibabang bahagi ng hugis bilog.
Ang gitnang bahagi ng nasa loob ng bilog ang mga sumasagisag sa
pagkakakilanlan ng barangay ay ang mga sumusunod:
SIKAT NG ARAW na siyang biyaya ng diyos na nagbibigay buhay ng bawat likha
ng may kapal.
DALAWANG BERDENG KABUNDUKAN sumisimbolo sa kulay at yaman ng
anyong gubat na kung saan may mga malalaking kahoy sa gitna ng
dalawang bundok ay may bukal o spring water na siyang pinagkukunan
ng inuming tubig ng buong barangay.
PALAYAN ang malawak na palayan ay siyang pangunahing hanapbuhay na
siyang pinagkukunan ng pagkain ng mga masisipag na magsasaka ng
barangay.
DALAWANG NIYOG ay sumisimbolo sa pangunahing produkto at hanapbuhay
ng barangay.
KAYUMANGGING LUPA ay sumisimbolo sa yaman ng anyong lupa na siyang
tumutulong sa pang araw-araw na buhay ng isang magsasaka.
IBON ay sumisimbolo sa mga kalalakihang inusig ng mga guwardya sibil na
siyang nagtanggol, ipinaglaban ang lupaing ito, subalit nasukol at
namatay, doon kinuha ang pangalan ng Brgy. Sokol na ngayon ay
Malaya na tulad ng ibong malayang nakakalipad.
Ang pagkilala ay ibinibigay sa mga nag-ambag para sa pagsasa-ayos ng opisyal
na sagisag (logo) ng barangay at ito ay ang mga sumusunod:
KGG. RODOLFO P. INOY – Dating Punong Barangay; na nagpatupad ng
pagkakaroon ng opisyal na sagisag ang barangay.
G. RODERICK DELA CRUZ – Taong Barangay; sa padesinyo at pagguhit ng
sagisag.
SANGGUNIANG BARANGAY (KASALUKUYAN) – sa pagbibigay ng kahulugan sa
sagisag.
GNG. ELISA N. MILLAN – Kasalukuyang kalihim ng barangay; para sa huling
pagsasa-ayos ng sagisag.
VISION
Iiisang paninindigan na may kapayapaan, na nagtutulungan
at buong pagkakaisa para sa maunlad na barangay.
MISSION
Labanan ang kahirapan at magkaroon ng makataong
pamamahala. Magtutulungan para sa kaunlaran at itaas ang
antas ng Edukasyon.
1. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
KASAYSAYAN NG BARANGAY SOKOL
Noong panahon ng pananakop ng mga Kastila ay may pitong kalalakihan ang
ayaw pasakop sa batas ng Kastila. Dahil sa pagmamahal nila sa lupang sinilangan ay
minabuti nilang magtago na lang sa kabundukan. Ginalugad nila ang kagubatan at
nakarating sila sa malaking ilog, na kung tawagin sa ngayon ay ILOG MALING. Tumawid
sila at napagkasunduan nilang doon na lang magtago sa dako pa roon ng ilog. Nakakita sila
ng sapa na nanggagaling sa malaking punongkahoy, minabuti nilang sa itaas ng
punongkahoy manggawa ng kanilang bahay para kung may mga Kastilang maligaw sa pook
na yaon ay makita agad nila. Sa dakong bundok ng kanilang tahanan ay nagtanim sila ng
mga halaman para sa kanilang pagkain. Ang bundok na kanilang tinaniman ay tinawag na
ngayong bundok ng Taloo at ang sapa na kinukunan nila ng gamiting tubig ay siya ngayong
Pansol.
Maganda na sana ang buhay nila doon, subalit natuklasang ng mga Kastila o
guardia sibil ang kanilang lugar at pilit silang isinama. Kaya, minabuti nilang maghanda na
lang sa anumang mangyayari. Gumawa sila ng mga pananggalang at naghanda sa
paglaban.
Isang araw ay bigla na lang silang sinalakay ng mga guardia sibil at pinagbabaril
sila. Dahil kabisado nila ang daanan ay nakatakbo sila sa banding ilog pero higit na
marami ang mga guardia sibil na doon ay nakaabang sa kanila. Malaki ang tubig noon kaya
hindi nila nagawang tumawid, wala na silang ibang matatakbuhan kaya nasukol sila doon.
Subalit, hindi sila sumuko bagkus ay pinag-ibayo nila ang kanilang kakayahan at angking
katapangan. Marami ang napatay sa kanila iilan na lang ang natitirang buhay sa kanila
ngunit hindi sila pinanghinaan ng loob kahit sukol na sukol na sila o gaping-gapi na ay
lumaban pa rin sila. Napatay silang lahat dahil sa pagtatanggol sa lupang sinilangan at
dahil na rin sa pagkakasukol nila o wala ng ibang matakbuhan. Kaya ang salitang Sokol ay
naging pangalan ng Barangay Sokol. Ito ang kasaysayan ng Barangay SOKOL.
2. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS Brgy. Sokol is one of the inner barangays of Atimonan, located about 5-kilometers away from the town’s poblacion. It is about 2-kilometers away from Maharlika Highway bounded on the north by the municipality of Padre Burgos, on the south by Barangay San Andres Labak, on the west by Barangay Magsaysay and on the east by Brgy. Montes Balaon & Mones Kallagan.
It has a total land area of 377.78 hectares per record of Municipal Assessor’s Office composed of three sitios- Gitnang Mayon, Malalim na Sapa, Kalabinbinan, Malamig, Riverside and Ilayang Sapaan. Topography of the barangay is mostly hilly. Almost 99% of land is agricultural. Definitive data were specified below:

3. SOCIO-ECONOMIC SECTOR 3.1 DEMOGRAPHY RHU Survey of Population 2014, showed that Brgy.Sokol had a population of 434 with a computed growth rate of 3.03%. There are more female than male, with age distribution revealing 60.82% of the total population belong to ages 10-59 years old; 22.11% under 1 year old to 9 years old and 17.05% belonging to 60 years old and above. This shows that Brgy. Sokol has than dependent population than working population.
School going population (pre-school, elementary, secondary and college) is computed at 35% of the total population and the most common religion is Roman Catholic.

25% or 94.45 hectares of the barangay is devoted to agriculture. Major crops are
copra and rice. It has 32 hectares for irrigation system that contributed to the
production of farm products. Some of the populace are leaned to poultry production for
additional source of income.
