Dear Brothers and Sisters, A happy and blessed 4th of July weekend to all of you! As we reflect upon life here in the United States of America these past weeks and months, “happy” and “blessed” might not be the words that first come to everyone’s minds. We have lived through an ongoing pandemic that has claimed so many lives, a tumultuous presidential election, riots, civil unrest, and an atmosphere in which everything once held sacred seems up for grabs. Those who emphasize only the sins of omission and commission of our nation’s past might say there is not much to celebrate this holiday. As a people of faith and hope in the goodness and providence of God,

however, we can choose a more comprehensive and reasonable perspective. We live at a time when legitimate freedoms are being continually challenged, particularly those of

speech and religion. Many of our Catholic brothers and sisters, even in positions of power and influence, have lost their way and misrepresent fundamental truths of our faith. Now more than ever it is crucial for us as Catholic Christians to reaffirm our commitment to the common good of our nation and our rich Catholic social teaching, which ultimately has as its goal the flourishing of every person who calls this land home. At the same time, we ask the Lord to stir up in us that prophetic spirit that inspired those like Ezekiel in this Sunday’s first reading, to embrace fully and witness to the Catholic Christian vision of marriage, sexuality, and family life, respect for all life “from womb to the tomb,” and be unambiguous in our Catholic identity as disciples of the Lord Jesus. As the example of Jesus of Nazareth reminds us this weekend, sometimes this puts us at odds with those closest to us and certainly with some of our fellow citizens. As Jesus’ example also reminds us, we continue to trust that God’s grace is sufficient for us (2 Corinthians 12:9) as we gently but clearly press on and speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).

This weekend we are grateful to God for the freedoms we still enjoy as citizens of this country, even

as we seek to preserve them for our children and children’s children. May the Immaculate Mother of God, patroness of this land, intercede for us and make us joyful witnesses of her Son and responsible citizens. Happy 4th of July!

Peace and blessings, Fr. Brad

Prayer for the USA

God our Father, Giver of life, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care.

You are the rock on which this nation was founded. You alone are the true source of our cherished rights

to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Send your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation´s leaders. Open their minds to the great worth of human life

and the responsibilities that accompany human freedom. Remind your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing your will.

Reclaim this land for your glory and dwell among your people. Give us the grace and humility to know what is not right with America. Give us the gift of your Holy Spirit for the moral and spiritual renewal

we need to meet the problems that we face.

Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our land, bless us and guide us always and increase our respect for all life.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Weekly Stewardship Report During this time, we celebrate the inde-pendence of our country. We would do well to echo the psalmist, saying, “Our eyes are fixed on the Lord, pleading for His mercy.” May we always recognize and use wisely the gifts of freedom and abundance He has showered upon us.

Collection totals for the weekend of June 26/27

will be printed in next weekend’s bulletin.

B I U L E T Y N Parafialny

4 LIPIEC XIV Niedziela w ciągu roku – B

Jezus wyszedł stamtąd i przyszedł do swego rodzinnego miasta. A towarzyszyli Mu Jego uczniowie. I powątpiewali o Nim. Potem obchodził okoliczne wsie i nauczał. Mk 6,1-6

"Posyłam cię do ludu buntowników, którzy Mi się sprzeciwili (...) To ludzie o bezczelnych twarzach i zatwardziałych sercach; posyłam cię do nich, (...)

I cóż?

KAZIK
