Principal's MessageWelcome to March!  It looks as though March is coming in like a lamb and hopefully it goes out

like a lamb too.

We've been very fortunate to have terrific weather this winter and March is certainly keeping

consistent with what we've had so far this year.  As we move into March, we will be busy with

Kindergarten registrations, elementary report cards go home on March 23rd, and engaging the

gr. 9-11 students in planning their courses for next year.  It is hard to believe that we are planning

for next year when it seems like yesterday we started this school year.  Time sure does fly!

We have much to be proud of at Herbert School.  Our students continue to do tremendous work in

their classroom learning experiences.  I am always so impressed when I visit our classrooms to

see the great things our staff members are doing with our students to meet their learning needs.  I

want to thank the students and staff for their great work.  We continue to do terrific work with our

extra-curricular activities too.  We sent students to the WE DAY in Saskatoon on March 2nd and

our basketball teams have all enjoyed great seasons.   Our badminton teams are starting and it

looks to be an exciting season for everyone.  I want to thank our staff and community coaches for

all of their work this year.

I wish everyone a great month of March!

 With Kindest Regards,

Arron Kohlman

Basketball

  Jr. Girls

The Junior Girls Basketball team progressed far above our expectations this year. They went from losing every game last year to a 10-9 season this year! They earned 2nd place in the Assiniboia tournament at the beginning of January and at our Home Tournament in February as well. In the Swift Current City Wide tournament, which ended our season, they lost by 3 in the consolation final to receive 4th place. It was a privilege for us to coach this year, being able to watch them grow individually in skill and as a team encouraging each other and working together!

Great job girls, we are so proud!

- Ms. Miranda Haughian & Mrs. Kerri Haughian

Jr. Boys

Congratulations to our Junior Boys basketball team on a great season!  The boys did very well in all of their games and have much to be proud of.  Special thanks to head coach Tim Braun and assistant coach Brett Klassen for all of their work with the boys this season.

Sr. GirlsThe Sr. Girls team currently sits at a record of: 22 wins and 4 losses. It has been a productive second half of the season with a pair of exhibition wins over Moose Jaw Peacock Jr. Toilers, a tournament win in Loreburn. The girls defeated the Gull Lake Lady Lions, and The Eston Mustangs in conference play, making them the champions. This past weekend the girls travelled to Middle Lake for regional playoffs. The girls’ first game was against Hepburn which the girls won by 1 point. In the final Herbert lost 61 – 38 to Middle Lake.

-Mr. McCulloch

Sr. Boys

The senior boys basketball team was ranked third in the province this past week after thundering through conferences which was hosted at home. This past weekend found them once again hosting a regional tournament! Friday the 11th saw Herbert play Central Butte with Herbert winning 109 to 28. The final on Saturday was Herbert vs LCBI. Even though a couple of Herbert players were nursing wounds, excitement was in the air and the boys were prepared to go the distance but had a heart-breaking 1 point loss to LCBI .
