Baxter Whisnant, Jr. 7/4/1927 - 5/27/2020

Baxter “Tobb” Whisnant Jr., was born July 4, 1927 to the late Baxter Whisnant, Sr. and Minnie Whisnant in Kings Moun-tain, North Carolina. Baxter accepted Christ at a young age. He was employed by County of Cleveland for 21 years, in which you would hear him talk about years after he retired. In 1953, he met the love of his life and longtime companion, Aretha Whisnant. Baxter departed this life on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. He was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Whisnant, father, Baxter Whisnant, Sr., daughter, Rosie Whisnant, son, Willie Whisnant, brothers; Bob, Homer, Leonard, Calvin, Cecil, and Luke Whisnant, grandchildren; Jimmy Chad Allen, Eddie Gene Wilson, and Brenda Nannette Wilson. Left to cherish his memories are his wife: Aretha Whisnant, his children; Dorothy Stewart (Gene) of Hickory, NC, Betty Whisnant of Shelby, NC, Lucille White of Kings Mountain, NC, Elaine Adams of Shelby, NC, Alfarris Wells of Shelby, NC, Diane Bratton of Shelby, NC, Dora Dawson (John) of Shelby, NC, Gayla Whisnant of Shelby, NC, one sister-in-law, Mary Whisnant, 21 grandchildren, 52 great grandchil-dren, 24 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, family, and special friends, Larry Elder, Michael Bratton, and Michael Byrd.
