Product Information BAYTHERM 9799 PIR Description Baytherm 9799 PIR is a low-density rigid poly- isocyanurate foam system consisting of three components: Baytherm 9799, a formulated polyol resin, Mondur 489, a polymeric diphenylmethane diisocyanate (PMDI), and HCFC 141b blowing agent which is added by the customer. Formulated using Bayer’s HCFC 141b-blown foam technology, this system can be used in pour-in-place applica- tions where excellent thermal and mechanical properties are required, and where a foam which has been shown to achieve an ASTM E-84 Class 1 burn rating is desired. As with any product, the use of foams made with the Baytherm 9799 PIR system in a given application must be tested (includ- ing, but not limited to, field testing) in advance by the user to determine suitability. It will react slowly with water to form polyureas and liberate CO 2 gas, which can cause sealed containers to expand and rupture. Storage temperatures should be maintained between 18°C and 30°C (64°F and 86°F). Baytherm 9799 – Baytherm 9799 Resin is hygro- scopic and may absorb water. Containers should be kept tightly closed and protected from heat, moisture and foreign materials, which can adversely affect processing. Open containers slowly to relieve possible excess pressure. Avoid contact with skin and eyes as well as breathing vapors if generated. Storage temperature should be maintained below 50°C (122°F). Health and Safety Information Appropriate literature has been assembled which provides information concerning the health and safety precautions that must be observed when handling Baytherm 9799 PIR system components. Before working with this product, you must read and become familiar with the available information on its hazards, proper use and handling. This cannot be overemphasized. Information is available in several forms, e.g., material safety data sheets (MSDS) and product labels. Consult your Bayer MaterialScience representative or the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Department in Pittsburgh, PA.
