Jane Horrocks is the eponymous heroine of The AmazingMrs Pritchard, a drama by Sally Wainwright co-starringSteven Mackintosh, Jodhi May, Janet McTeer, GeraldineJames, Meera Syal and Sally Phillips.

Jane Horrocks says: “Mrs Pritchard is a peopleperson who runs her life and her shop with thekind of friendly efficiency that makes her lovedby everyone she meets. She’s the voice ofreason with the ability to cut through the flim-flam of politics.”

Sally Wainwright, writer and creator of the series, adds: “During the last election I found that Ididn’t really want to vote for anybody becausethey all seemed as bad as each other. I thoughtit would be great fun to write an epic story with acentral character who was prepared to stand up and point this out. Mrs Pritchard is boldenough – or some may say daft enough – tostand for Parliament on the assumption that shecan do just as badly as any of them but at leastshe will be honest.”
