THE KING AND THE TREE PLANTER (ROLL NO. 1-12)
There was a king. One day he was travelling with his men down the hill . He saw an old man
planting a sapling. He found it very odd. He thought that sapling would take a longtime to
grow. The old man would not be there to enjoy the fruit . The king asked the old man, “Why are
you planting the sapling?” The old man replied, “I feel happy t o plant saplings. I know I will
not enjoy the fruits from the tree. But my son and my grandson will enjoy the fruits.” We are
also the same. He said, “The planting is more important than the harvesting.”
Moral: Plant more and more trees.
THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER (ROLL NO. 13-24)
The summer season was ending. The little ant was rushing around to stock -up for winters.
Meanwhile the grasshopper was singing happily. When he saw the little ant working so hard, he
said, “Come and enjoy this beautiful day.” T he ant answered, “I need to stock -up food for
winter season.” Time passed and the winter season arrived. The grasshopper felt hungry and
decided to go to the ant’s door. The grasshopper begged for help. But the ant said, “What did
you do in summer?” The grasshopper said, “I was singing.” The ant said, “So, now you dance in
the winter season.”
Moral: Be ready for rainy season.
THE RED HEN (ROLL NO. 25-37)
Once there was a red hen. She lived in the forest with her chicks. One day, she decided to make
cornbread. She wanted to take her friends’ help. So she went to her friends and said, “Who can
help me to make a cornbread.” The cat said, “I am so tired. I can’t help you.” The dog said, “I
am too busy to help you.” The cow said, “I am going to play. I can’t hel p you.” None of them
was ready to help her. The red hen made cornbread by herself. When the delicious cornbread
was ready, its smell fi lled in the air. All her friends came back to have that tasty bread. Then
the red hen refused because none of them had he lped her. She enjoyed the bread along with her
chicks.
Moral: Hard work always pays.
