National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada
December 6, 2012A day to:• Remember the 14 young women whose lives ended
in an act of gender-based violence at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal
• Reflect on the phenomenon of violence against women
• Take concrete actions to eliminate all forms of violence against women

Expectations for the day
• Engage with members and raise awareness about the day through at least one activity, such as:– A walkabout– An information table– A presentation for a JOHSC – A presentation for staff (lunch & learn)

Stewards:
• Presented information on violence in the workplace
• Held a poinsettia raffle fundraiser for a women’s shelter
• Organized walkabouts and drop-in sessions to promote conversations and raise awareness.

were 22 years ago. Definitely created awareness”.

A day to:• Promote awareness about bullying• Provide information on what to do if experiencing or
witnessing bullying

Stewards:• Organized unit wide “pink events” with units wearing
pink shirts and clothing
• Held drop-ins and walkabouts with pink cake, pink cookie wafers, and pink bubble gum!
• Gave presentations on codes and workplace violence

International Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) Awareness Day
February 28, 2013
A day to highlight:• the causes of RSI• the need to eliminate those causes• the importance of fair compensation for workers
disabled by RSI.

• Follow up on worksite concerns identified in the survey
