    Survey Field Project

    Evaluation:

    Course Objectives:

The main objective of this course is to consolidate various knowledge and techniques of

surveying on the students and carry out projects in group. After completion of this project,

students are expected to be able to:

handle instruments of surveying and use them in practical field problems

perform traversing, triangulation and leveling works

carry out detailing work with sufficient accuracy carry out alignment survey

prepare detailed topographic map and required sections

    Course Contents:

    1. Horizontal and Vertical Control Practices for Topographic Surveying (6 days)

    1.1 Reconnaissance survey

    1.2 Traversing

    - about 15 major stations and 3 minor stations

    - total leg length of about 150m in major traverse

    - analytical resection

    - horizontal control by theodolite or total station

    1.3 Levelling

    - two-peg test

    - fly levellingofabout800m two-way distance

    - vertical control by auto-level

    1.4 Detailing

    2.

    Bridge Site Survey (2 days)

    2.1 Reconnaissance survey

    2.2 Triangulation

    - determination of bridge axis length

    - coverage not less than 150m upstream and 50m downstream

    - horizontal control by theodolite or total station
