Analysing Questionnaire Results

What is you age?

The majority of people who were sent my questionnaire are 17; this allows me to establish a better idea of my target audience as I know what they expect to see in my music video. I will find it easier as the audience is my age.

Are you male or female?

This tells me that my audience is mostly female; this is helpful as Beyoncé’s audience is mostly female. I know now that I can direct my video in a more feminine direction, for example using more females in my video for the audience to relate to.

How often do you watch music videos?

This pie chart shows a very spread out opinion within my target audience. The majority say ‘Only my favourite artists’, this will make it more difficult to capture their attention with Beyoncé therefore I will have to use images that they enjoy.

What media platform do you use to watch music videos?

From this pie chart I know that my target audience will watch videos that are posted on YouTube therefore I will post mine to YouTube.

Favourite Music Video?

Many of these videos are relevant and modern, asking this question allowed me to understand what type of thing they like to see. I will be including imagery and hidden messages within my video.

Favourite Music Artist?

Similarly to the previous question, this question allowed me to understand what my audience likes to see in a music video.

What is your favourite genre?

This question told me more about what type of songs my audience likes; Beyoncé is classed as R&B Pop therefore my audience should enjoy the song.

Colour Scheme?

The majority of people voted for the summery theme which was what I originally wanted for my music video, with summery landscape shots.

What type of Music Video would you like to see?

This question showed very balanced answers suggesting I could mix all themes together. I will be doing a story, summer vibes and scenic theme as I believe these work well together.

What is your favourite Beyoncé song?Asking this question was so that I could get a deeper understanding of what sort of Beyoncé songs my audience likes, it would not affect the outcome of my product.

When watching music videos do you like to see the artist or the story of the music video?

The most popular to this question was 50/50 which is what I was hoping for due to how I wanted to style my video. It was beneficial to ask this question as I had to show what the audience want to see.

Landscape shots or close ups?

I have decided I will use an equal amount of these types of shots throughout my video, the ratio of answers was pretty equal to, proving my decision to be a fairly safe choice.

What is your favourite thing about Beyoncé?

This question, similar to the previous “what is your favourite Beyoncé song?” leads to no affect on my final product, it just gives me a good idea of what sort of products my target audience likes to see from Beyoncé.

What captures your attention the most in a music video?

This question is important as I need to know what captures my audience’s attention for my product to be successful. The majority of answers were ‘Song’ however using an amount of all aspects would allow me to capture everyone’s attention.

Lighting?

The majority of people voted High Key Lighting suggesting they wanted an upbeat, happy final product. Low key lighting would make my video dark and mysterious which would not fit in with my current themes.

Do you like the idea of a speech at the beginning of the video?

I had originally planned to include a speech in my video, therefore instead of changing my plans due to this question I think including the speech will surprise and intrigue audiences, much like Beyoncé’s videos in Lemonade.

Do you want the speech to be spoken by the artist or somebody else in my music video?

Due to the previous explantion stating that I would include a speech I will be choosing a voice for my speech.

Do you think the people in my music video should all be women?

This will contrast to Beyoncé’s themes of strong feminism and only surrounding herself with women however it will attract more of an audience to include both men and women.
