The Forest Glen Ministry! Forest Glen Camps and Retreat Center is open year-round to various clienteles. Church and Para-church ministries utilize our facilities when they organize a Christ-centered retreat for their members. Public and private schools rely on Forest Glen to provide an experiential education program that has optional biblical integration specific to each lesson. During our summer months, we offer several 1-week sessions of a residential camp program called Camp Good News. Furthermore, we provide a day camp program for residents in the northeastern Houston area, including The Woodlands, Conroe, and Huntsville. Our facilities are also used as a church camp setting for many large churches across Texas. We offer our church groups great facilities and traditional camp activities that compliment their summer camp ministry plans.
The Forest Glen Experience! An independent Christian Camp, Forest Glen Camp and Retreat Center serves its guests with three different facilities. Our Houston area facilities are nestled in the Sam Houston National Forest near Huntsville, Texas. We are conveniently located 1.5 hours north of downtown Houston and approximately 3 hours south of the D/FW metroplex. Our beautiful 24-acre lake conveniently rests between our fully equipped North Shore and Lakeside campuses. Lodging features include restrooms, showers, central AC/heating and carpeting. In addition, each campus has its own Jr. Olympic size swimming pool, dining facility, covered recreation pavilion, sports field and multiple meeting rooms. Total combined occupancy for this property is just over 500.
Tucked into the hills that overlook the Brazos River, our third location, Forest Glen Springs is located near Rosebud, Texas. Soft meadows, tree covered hills and a pristine 13-acre lake fed by multiple springs make this location a delightfully peaceful place to experience. Multiple lodging options are available for your camping experience: screened shelters, platform screened tents, 2 large year-round bunkhouses and 2 new cabins. Total occupancy of this camp is just over 200.
Forest Glen going Green! Starting in 2006, with the beginning of our major facility improvement and enhancement campaign, we have intentionally planned for and taken steps to become a leader in applying environmentally safe procedures. All new cabins and buildings are equipped with geothermal AC/heating systems. We have implemented recommended facility energy usage practices. We’ve begun moving away from traditional oil dependent vehicles, and have utilized new engineering techniques that have led to our buildings becoming more energy efficient.

Since this time five generations of Prude’s have been in charge of the ranch operations, which have included everything from punching cattle to corralling boys and girls in our summer camp program. From 1951 until the present time, campers have enjoyed a true “southwest” experience – wide open spaces, beautiful mountains, pure clean air, and a sample of real ranch life. “Second generation campers” abound, experiencing camp life much like their parents did in earlier years. The Prude Ranch Summer Camp Program is still a family affair, with three generations of Prude’s directing camp activities. Ranch cabins, which house the campers, look like old fashion ranch-hand bunk houses. Each unit has private bath facilities and even air conditioning, other facilities include a modern dining room, recreation building, enclosed swimming pool, lighted tennis courts, lighted rodeo arena, rifle and archery ranges, arts and crafts, and lots of wide open spaces just hankerin’ for kids to romp over. Our most popular activities center around horses.Other activities include riflery, hiking, horsemanship, animal life, cheerleading, gymnastics crafts, swimming, archery, drama, ropes course, stunt night, and talent shows.
