NEXT GENERATIONPROGRAM

ABOUT THE PROGRAM WHAT’S INVOLVED?

The objective of the Next Generation program is to introduce year 8-10 students to the oil and gas industry in a fun, interactive and educational environment. We aim to educate students about the Oil & Gas industry and the important role energy plays in our society, and provide information on the diversity of career options available.

By matching each school with an industry mentor, students get first hand access to information from someone working directly in the industry. This program provides an opportunity to inspire the next generation and to promote the oil and gas industry to our future workforce.

During the mentor visits, students will learn about the oil and gas industry and mentors will conduct an interactive experiment. They will also have the opportunity to speak with a panel of mentors who will share their experience and career path into the industry. They will then produce a research deliverable on a chosen career, including roles in exploration & production; engineering; construction & maintenance; health, safety and environment; renewable and sustainable industries; and services such as legal, accounting and marketing. STUDENT EXPO DAY

The program culminates in the final event which showcases the student’s project and provides the opportunity for students to present in front of peers, other schools, mentors and sponsors.

The expo industry supporters provide interactive displays and simulations for the students to participate in a fun and interactive environment. This is designed to generate interest and facilitate the question and answer process between students and industry representatives. 2016 SCHOOLS TEACHER MENTOR COMPANYButler College 1 Kim Bedworth Michael Chin INPEXButler College 2 Kim Bedworth Ivan Passaportis INPEXChurchlands Senior High School 1 Richard Massang Eric Adlard Lloyd’s Register DrillingChurchlands Senior High School 2 Richard Massang Massimo Delia NeptuneDuncraig Senior High School 1 Owen McClements Dario Bongionvanni SchlumbergerDuncraig Senior High School 2 Owen McClements Dario Bongionvanni SchlumbergerHampton Senior High School Chloe Bravos William Banner INPEXMethodist Ladies College 1 Lainie Gara Cameron McPhie INPEXMethodist Ladies College 2 Lainie Gara Natasha Ogonowski CloughMorley Senior High School 1 Rebecca Collins Darren Bouwer INPEXMorley Senior High School 2 Rebecca Collins Brian Cotter INPEXPerth Modern 1 Christopher Rapley Ian Ritchie Quadrant EnergyPerth Modern 2 Christopher Rapley Franklyn Jardine MRC GlobalSacred Heart Tanya Atherton Steven Fogarty Quadrant EnergyWarnbro Community High School 1 Flavio Rett Phil Grainger INPEXWarnbro Community High School 2 Flavio Rett John McKelvie BP Kwinana Refinery

BRINGING ENERGY INTO THE CLASSROOMENERGY4ME

We partnered our 2016 program with the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ (SPE) Energy4me! This provided us with access to project activities, mentor and teacher workshops, and classroom materials and educational tools.

The Program values the role teachers and energy professionals play in educating people about the importance of energy. Energy4me educational materials were created with teachers and education institutions and have been tested in the classroom environment across the globe. The program is designed to make an impact with website resources, teacher development, hands-on activities and speaker programs.

We believe that in order to garner the interests of students to study STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) we need to provide teachers and mentors the tools to make learning about the Oil & Gas Industry fun and interactive.

Today’s students are tomorrows industry professionals. Our message to students everywhere: “We need your help! Come join the energy industry and help create the world’s energy solutions for today, tomorrow and the future!” The program is flexible to each school’s individual needs and therefore there are various ways to become involved as a mentor. The Next Generation committee have worked closely with teachers to continue to develop the program keeping it current, engaging and adding value to the student’s education by providing information on career pathways that may not be easily accessible to them.

“Come join the energy industry and help create

the world’s energy solutions

for today, tomorrow and

the future.”

“This has given me the chance

to look into my future, and consider what I

want to do.”

“A great way to expose students to the potential opportunities in the oil and gas

industry.”
