Safety 4 Thread Overlock Stitch:• Follow the instructions in your user manual for setting up your machine to stitch a safety 4-thread overlock stitch.
4-Thread Overlock with Balanced Tension:• This stitch is the workhorse of serging. It creates a seam with the left needle which is reinforced with the right needle.• This stitch is stretchable and excellent for sewing on all fabrics from knits to wovens.• When the tensions are balanced, the fabric is smooth and the upper and lower loopers form a straight line at the top of the fabric.

Playing with Tension (Upper Looper Tension too Tight)• Tighten the upper looper tension and serge a sample.• Notice that the upper looper thread now bleeds over onto the back of your fabric.• Set the upper looper tension back to the original setting.
Playing with Tension (Lower Looper Tension too Tight)• Tighten the lower looper tension and serge a sample.• Notice that the lower looper thread now bleeds over onto the front of your fabric.• Set the lower looper tension back to the original setting.

Balanced Tension (Balanced Tension 4-Thread Overlock)Now, play around with your tension settings until the tensions are balanced and the stitch looks like this. Now you are ready to serge!
