Sunday / Wednesday Join us for class & invite a friend!
And another angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer, and he was given much incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints….Then the angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the altar and threw it on the earth, and there were peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake. Revelation 8:4 & 6
I suspect that it is perhaps our pride or perhaps our lack of faith that we easily fall in to thinking that human action and ability are the key to Kingdom success. Prayer is a corrective to our pride. Prayer reminds us that, as we sometimes sing, "the battle belongs to the Lord." There are many fine works of service done among us at this congregation -- in Christ we were created for this very thing (Ephesians 2:10). But, as Jimmie Rhoads often reminds us, praying is the most, not the least, that we can do. Last Wednesday we resumed the practice of monthly prayer meetings. This may very well be the most important work that we do as a gathering of God's people.
You can do more than pray after you have prayed, but you cannot do more than pray until you have prayed. A.J. Gordon
