Action verbs describe what the subject of the sentence is doing. It also expresses possession (have, own)

2) Change the linking verbs to action verbs. This might mean changing the sentence in your story.

Wednesday-“Show Not Tell”Good writers SHOW what is happening in a story; they just don’t tell you. They use VERBS to create imagery so that you “see” what is happening as you read.Example:Example:Telling statement: The girls were excited.Imagery/showing: Giggles and screams filled the arena. 1) Find one place that “tells” in your short story.

2) Change the telling event to a showing event. Use descriptive, sensory language and STRONG ACTION VERBS to give the reader and IMAGE of what happened!
