Overview• Includes 2 duplex receptacle openings and one data

cover (2 openings) per user. In single-sided applications, one side of the beam has beltways with no openings.

• Internal power components are included as part of Beam and are preinstalled. (Excluding receptacles and infeeds, whicharespecifiedseparately.)

• Beams offer lay-in installation of power and data across multiple sections.

• Utilizes the Byrne Phase 3, 5-wire, three 15 amp circuit double-sided power system as standard. Phase 3 contains 3 hot wires, common neutral and common ground.

Three-circuit electricalcomponents withshared neutrals are stan-dard with 5 wires to providethree circuits that share oneoversized neutral and oneground. This is the traditional3-circuit power alternativethat is specified by addingthe suffix P3 to the panelstyle number.

Three-circuit with sepa-rate neutrals have 8 wiresproviding three circuits, eachwith its own separate neu-tral. The first two circuitsshare an isolated ground;the third uses the systemground.

Four-circuit 3+D are stan-dard with 8 wires to providefour circuits. Three of thesecircuits share an oversizedneutral and a system groundwhile the remaining circuithas its own neutral and iso-lated ground. This is the tra-ditional 4-circuit power, alsoknown as 3+D, that is speci-fied by adding the suffix P4to the panel style number.

Four-circuit, 3I+1 againhave 8 wires but with threecircuits that share an over-sized neutral and isolatedground. The fourth circuithas its own neutral and isattached to the systemground. This electrical sys-tem is like the standard 3+D, but the grounds areswitched, providing threeisolated circuits and onegeneral purpose circuit ascompared to one isolatedcircuit and three general purpose circuits.

Four-circuit 2+2 alsohave 8 wires but provide twocircuits that share an over-sized neutral and a systemground and an additional twocircuits with a second over-sized neutral and an isolatedground.

What is eBench? eBench workstations pack style, function, and technology integration into a simple, uncluttered package. Engineered in Germany, its highly tooled steel structure assures a long-lasting, sturdy foundation. Inset shared legs create ample knee space with plenty of room for storage components.

3/4” sliding tops provide pocket access to the fully concealed power outlets, data ports, and cable troughs in the center raceway. The standard 4-circuit power system includes 2 duplexes and 2 data openings per user. For frequent user access, surface- and edge-mount power and data options assure connections are always close at hand.

eBench is available for Double- and Single-sided rectangular applications 48”, 60”, or 72”W with 24” or 30”D worksurfaces. Use topper screens and end panels to add privacy and modesty, also creating options for aesthetic customization. Add a 12” Skinny™box-filemobilepedforhighdensityapplications, or choose Landscape or Apex storage components.

New York City PowerNew York City electrical code requires metallic conduit on all modular wiring. All of the modular wiring harnesses for Grid Frames come standard with metallic conduit (5-wire, 3-circuit). Grid Base Power Infeeds UPHASE5NY or UPHASE8NY must be used. Modular wiring components must befieldinstalled.ToordertheGridFrameswiththis option, for circuit choice (#) select “Field Installed” power option.

8 Wire Power with Dedicated CircuitIf an 8-wire power system with a Dedicated Circuit (3+1 or 2+2) is required, select the “4-circuit Powerway” option. Unlike the standard 5-wiring system, receptacles for the 4-circuit system must bespecifiedseparately.

Worksurface Planning in Workstations

Freestanding vs. Tether Brackets• Freestanding worksurfaces give optimum reconfigurabilityandmobility.

• Tether brackets eliminate legs and lower cost.

Tether Bracket Rules• Tether brackets connect the back of the

worksurface to the Frame. The front of the worksurface must be held up by a leg. A tether bracket is NOT THE SAME AS A CANTILEVER.

• As a general rule, two tether brackets are required to hold up the back of a rectangle surface. See diagram T1. Four tether brackets are required on a corner worksurface (two on each side).

• Braces are required on 60”wide and wider rectangle worksurfaces. Spans longer than 72" requireadditionalmid-runfloorsupportsuchas a leg or storage unit. (Braces are ordered separately.)

• If two worksurfaces are adjoining tether brackets may be shared. In this case surfaces 48’’ and less require one tether bracket plus a shared. Surfaces 54’’+ require two tether brackets plus a shared. See diagram T2 and T3.

• A support plate and brace are required for 90 degree application. See diagram T4 and T5.
