Key Migration Considerations

Type of migration – Logical or Physical / Heterogeneous or Homogeneous

Number of systems to be moved – impacts space required and timeline

3rd party applications/systems that will communicate with hosted systems

Network requirements – bandwidth and number of locations

May coincide with certain SAP projects (homogeneous or heterogeneous system copies, SAP upgrade, implementation of additional SAP products, etc)

Key Migration Considerations – Types of Migration

Logical Migration- Movement of SAP application data to new servers at Symmetry’s datacenter- Purchase of new server equipment- Combination of tape/USB drive transfer and log shipping

Physical Migration- Movement of existing physical servers to Symmetry’s datacenter- Use of transition “Bumper Box” for production system - Certified shipping company- Full system backups still create prior to shipment

New Implementation- New hardware shipped directly to Symmetry- Symmetry performs SAP installations and Basis implementation support
