“Machu Picchu” means “Old Peak” or “Old Mountain.”Structures were built with a technique called “ashlar.” Stones are cut to fit together without mortar. Remarkably, not even a needle can fit in between two stones.Many of the stones that were used to build the city weighed more than 50 tons.

“Chichen Itza” is actually derived from a Mayan name which means, “on the mouth of the well of Itza”The Chichen Itza was discovered in the year 514 A.D. by the priest Lakin Chan.Along with fine stones some pyramids have an inner layer of mica.

This brilliant building had 80 entrances and could seat approximately 50,000 spectators who would come to watch sporting events and games.
