UWC was conceived in the aftermath of WWII
Kurt Hahn, a German educationalist, developed the ideaof a multi-national pre-university school to helpovercome religious, cultural and racial misunderstandingto avoid conflict
16 to 18 olds are well grounded in their own cultures butalso at a unique age when they are impressionable andopen to learn from and respect each others differences
The first UWC UWC of the Atlantic opened in 1962
Today there are 12 United World Colleges 5 continentseducating 3,000 16-18 year old students

services along the South Wales coast
