Food for Thought
Is it truthful? Is what I’m about to say
the truth? Is it helpful? Or will it simply harm
the other person? Is it necessary? If it’s not
necessary, why do I need to say it? Is it kind?
Our world is simply out of control with anger.
We don’t need to add anything to it. Let them
see Christ in us. Remember the sick and suf-
fering. Thinking before we speak can avoid
many conflicts. So it’s best to let them inter-
pret our silence!
“Stupid people express their anger
openly, but sensible people are patient and
hold it back. Therefore each of you must put
off falsehood and speak truthfully to his
neighbor, for we are members of one another.
Be angry, yet do not sin. Do not let the sun set
upon your anger, and do not give the devil a
foothold.” (Proverbs 29:11/Eph. 4-26)
Live Music
The band, Group Therapy will
once again entertain us with classic
rock-n-blues favorites at Holiday
House July 7 beginning at 7:00
p.m. Bring your own beverages
and snacks and enjoy the music.
It’s free! Paid for by the Activi-
ties Committee.

Casino Bus Trips
W e had a great first Casino Bus Trip to
Greektown in June with a full busload of
adventure seekers. Holiday Shores residents can

Nancy Johnson, Lot No. 216, (903) 216-4943,
Payment must be made to Nancy by check or cash
at least one week prior to the trip to reserve your
space. You will also need to provide your date of
birth and address on your government-issued iden-
tification card (usually your drivers’ license) to

spend the day taking the casino’s money with fel-
low Holiday Shores residents.

dessert. A second sandwich is only two
bucks more.
Turkeyville Trip
N unSense A-men is basically the origi-
nal “Nunsense” with all the characters
being portrayed by male musical comedy
performers. Think of it as “Mrs. Doubtfire
enters the Convent.” Done totally seriously,
this show is, to quote a critic, “no drag.”
You will laugh from beginning to end! We
head to Turkeyville on August 28 for the
11:30 a.m. dinner theater. Get your $37.00
to Marilyn Gibson early to reserve your spot.

this fun weekly event
Bring it On
T here is still time to sign up as a
substitute for this summer Bocce
teams. Two games every Thursday
and five on Fridays are scheduled until
the tournament, which will be held the
end of August. The court is available
for open play any time other than
league days. Stop by and see how
much fun it is to play. Bocce is a game for all ages and abilities. Shown is a re-cent Thursday morning game.
Park Upgrades We want to thank you for your patience while we make many landscape improvements here at Holi-
day Shores. We are sure you will be happy with the results when it is finished. The new work will
give our public areas a more streamlined look as well as keeping down maintenance costs. Soon you
will notice a dozen pergola swings around the park where you can stop and rest during your walks.
Spring Cleaning Although spring is officially over, you are reminded to get your units cleaned if you haven’t already
done so. If you don’t have access to a pressure washer, a long handled brush and a bucket of soapy
water will do the job nicely. Or contract someone to do it for you. Also, if there are weeds growing
in your driveway or walkways, they need to be cleaned up. Let’s work together to make our park
sparkle.
Fishing Tournament
The annual Holiday Shores Fishing Tournament will
be held Saturday, July 21 from
8:00 a.m until 2:00 p.m. A $5.00
fee will be charged to enter the
event which will entitle anglers
with the biggest fish to collect
cash prizes. To register for the
tournament stop by Lot 229 be-
fore July 7 or pay at the beach at
the day of the event. All entrants must register prior
to fishing.
Wednesday Meetings
Each Wednesday morning at 9:00 you have an
opportunity to meet and greet other residents as
we host our regular meetings at Holiday House.
Free coffee and donuts are available beginning at
8:30 which leaves us time to socialize with our
friends and neighbors and get an update on park
activities and the latest gossip. Stop by this week
for a fun and informative hour.
Thank You Volunteers
We appreciate the dozen volunteers who
banded together to prepare and serve over
one hundred residents and guests at the Taco
Night last month. They are among many
who help make this a better community for
all our residents.
Some people see volunteering as an activity
that only benefits others. But the truth is, the
benefits of volunteering can have an impact
on your overall well being as well as your
relationships with others. Volunteering will
help build friendships. Socially, the benefits
to volunteering show up quickly and have
long-term effects. Social interaction im-
proves mental and physical health, according
to Psychology Today. The benefits
of consistent socializing include better brain
function and lower risk for depression and
anxiety. Studies show that it can also im-
prove your immune system. So don’t be shy.
Do it for your own well being.
Our Faux Chef, Johnny Johnson prepares the
meat at the Taco Night in June.
Paul and Marlene Brad-ley preside over the many side dishes that guests brought to pass.
Kari Tracey and Carol Muschiana serve up
the taco meat to guests.
