Bevagna and Montefalco Cod C1 ½ day around 2 h Visit of two charming little towns near Assisi: Bevagna and Montefalco, immersed in the rolling vinecovered hills offer an intact medieval aspect. Precious art (frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli) and marvelous Ummbrian romanesque architecture. ( entrance fee 5 € ) BEVAGNA Bevagna, the ancient “Mevania”, developed during the roman period thanks to the via Flaminia. This little fascinating gem is surrounded by the Clitunnoriver, Sagrantino vines and olive groves. An easy walk in the intact medieval centre leads you to the splendid Piazza Silvestri, one of the finest surviving Medieval squares in Umbria, with 12th century Romanesque churches. During the month of June, Bevagna steps back into the Middel-Ages with the “Market of the Gaite” (word of Longobard origin meaning quarter), an evocation of everyday medieval life and crafts involving the whole population. Some of the medieval workshops are open all year round.
