List of Activities organized in the college during the session 2018-19

1. On 1st of Aug. 2018:- An Orientation lecture was organized in the college on 01-08-2018. Prof. V.S.Hans, The principal of the college delivered the lecture to the new entrants.The newly admitted students raised a number of questions to the principal and the principal gave satisfactory answer to the questions of the students.

After the lecture of the Principal, the senior faculty members including Prof. Dalbir Singh and Prof. Kushal also interacted with the new students. They enthusiastically welcomed the students and informed them about the various activities and opportunities available for the students in the institute.

2. 5thSept. 2018:- To mark the birth anniversary of Former President and Noted academician Dr. Sarvapalli Radha Krishanan, Teacher’s Day was celebrated in the college. Prof. V.S.HANS, principal of the college was the chief guest on the occasion, who while speaking threw light on life history of Dr. S. Radha Krishanan. A symposium was held on the topic ‘’The role of teacher in Nation Building’’ in which eight students gave their views, out of eight students Ms. Priya Rajput stood first, Ms. VarshaAttri stood 2nd and Ms. Priya Rana stood third.

In addition to symposium students also presented various cultural activities regarding teacher role in the upliftment of the nation.

3. Hindi Divaswas celebrated in the college on 14-09-2018under the supervision of Ms. Priyanka Slathia Head of the department of Hindi, Six students spoke about the importance of Hindi Divas celebration.

The students said that after the domination of Foreign Rules for two hundred years, the country achieved independence. The countrymen (Leaders) after independence decided to choose the language which can be spoken in the whole country from Jammu Kashmir to Kanya Kumari. So on 14 Sept.1949, the Hindi language as National Language was choose and gave the official importance to be spoken in the country. The students laid a stress that we all should speak Hindi at everywhere in the country.The Principal Prof. V.S.Hans and Prof. Dalbir Singh also spoke on the occasion along with Ms. PriyankaSlathia. In the end three students stood Ms. Manisha Attri 1st, Ms.Bandana 2nd and Ms. Manisha 3rd respectively.

4. 22-09-2018:-An inter class symposium was organized in the college on the topic of Women Education and Empowerment. Eight students expressed their views on the said topic. Prof. Madhu Sharma and Prof. Kushal Kumari acted as Judges. Whole program was organized and coordinated by Prof. Dalbir Singh a senior faculty member in the college.

In the end the judges gave the decision about the performance of the students on the said topic anddeclared three students as first Ms.PriyaKatal (5thSem), Second Ms. Deepshikha (1st Sem) and third Ms. Anjali (3rd Sem) respectively. The Principal of the college prof. V.S.Hans also expressed his views on the topic.

5. A guest lecture on “Health Awareness”was delivered by Dr. Naresh Kanwal MBBS, MD Principal Para Medical College on 24-09-2018 in the college to the students.

Prof Dalbir Singh welcomed the resources person, Dr. Naresh Kanwal gave a very effective lecture on maintenance of health. He highlighted various diseases and the precautionary measures to avoid the diseases. He placed before the students the ways and means to lead a happy and trouble free life. In the end vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Madhu Sharma department of English

6. Inter class Essay Competitionon the subject Cleanliness is Next to Godlinesswas organized in college on 26-09-2018. As many as eighteen students took part in the Essay Competition under the guidance of Prof. Madhu Sharma Head of the department of English. After evaluating the answer sheets following three students stood First, Second and Third respectively.

7. On 11-10-2018an Extension Lectureon personality development was organized in the college Prof. Dalbir Singh welcomed the guest. Dr. Jasbir Singh Department of Economics university of Jammu was a resource person who dealt in depth on the subject. He has the experience of giving such lecture in about 150 different institutions of the country. In addition to lectures in India he has experience of delivering the lectures in foreign countries also.

He placed before the students certain issues, problems and their solutions for the highest development of the personality. After the lecture was over, students raised questions which were satisfactory answered by Dr. Jasbir Singh. In the end vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Neelam Kumari

8. On 16-10-2018, Prof. Dalbir Singh Head of the Department of Physics Govt. Degree College Samba was invited to deliver the Extension lecture to the student of physics. He was welcomed by the Principal of the college.

After the lecture was over, a number of students raised questions and enquired about various concepts of physics. Prof. Dalbir Singh gave very satisfactory and

befitting replies to the questions of the students. In the end vote of thanks was presented by Prof Priyanka Slathia

9. On 17-10-2018,inter college Symposium ‘’Women Education and Empowerment’’ was organized in the college. Prof Dalbir Singh senior faculty members welcomed the guests, Judges and Participants. Five institutions participated in the symposium. Every institution had two participants for presenting the view points on the topic.

After the participation of students on the said topic, the Judges gave the results of the participants. Ms. Priyanka Jasrotia from Bhargava College of Education stood first. Ms. Nandni Vaid from Bhargava College of Engineering and Technology Supwal, Samba and Ms. Sona from Bhargava Paramedical College, Samba both stood 2nd in the Competition, Ms. Vaishali Thappa from Bhargava College of Engineering and Technology Supwal, Samba and Ms. Diksha Charak from Bhargava Degree College, Samba both stood third in the competition. In the end vote of thanks was presented by prof. Dalbir Singh

10.On19-10-2018, A Botanical and Zoological subject study Trip of B.Sc. (Medical) students was organized at Mansar. The students made a study of various flora and fauna plants.

11.On 23-10-2018, Industrial visit of EVS students was conducted at Rajeev cable, Sidco Samba. The objective of such visit is to make students familiar with the process involved in solid waste management, recycle and reuse of waste.

This visit was conducted under the supervision of in charge teacher Mrs. NeelamKumari along with Mrs. Sheetal Sharma and Mr. SahilRajra. The students had direct interaction with the people involved in the process and thus gained first-hand knowledge. The students were exposed to practical situation.

12.On 06-11-2018, onthe eve of Dipawli, a Rangoli Competition was organized in the college. As many as Seven Groups of Female students participated in the RangoliCompetition.

After the display of Rangoli, a team of three Judges including principal and Two Senior faculty members visited the site of Rangoli and gave their Judgment for 1st, 2nd and 3rd group respectively. In the end the winning group were given Certificates and Cash prizes

13.On16-01-2019 A Career Counseling Guidance Programwas organized under the supervision of the principal of the college Prof. V.S. Hans. Mr. Rahul Vohra, a young professional Model Career Center, District Employment and counselling Center Samba, visited in the college. He informed the students about the employment opportunities available in different areas. He also delivered an interesting lectureon National Career Services (NCS) Portal awareness Computer and O* Network Internet profile Psychometric Test for the students and the Teas enabled the students to know their aptitude and interest in different field of work .Students interestingly took Pat in the Program and put many questions to the professional person to clear their doubts.

14.A National youth Parliament festival 2019 was organized by the Regional Directorate of NSS, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Govt of India w.e.f24-01-2019 to 28-01-2019 across all the District of the country in which Govt Degree College Samba was the Nodal institute for district Samba.

During this festival a debate competition was held at Govt Degree College Samba on 24-01-2019. The Topic of discussion during the DYP session were Swachchta, Corruption, Casteism, Digital Indian, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Terrorism and National Security, Environment Pollution etc. Six students of our college also participated in DYP session and one student Named Priya Rajput of BA Sem-6th got 5th Position in debate. The other Students who were participated are Nandika Sharma Sem-4th, Reena Jamwal Sem-4th , Sonika Sem-2nd , Neeraj Sharma Sem=4th ,Anjali Sem-4th. All the participants got the certificate of appreciation for participation in District Youth Parliament.

15. A Motivation Cum Industrial awareness orientation lecture was organized by our college on 28-01-2019 in which Ram Singh, Head of Production Manager and Ramesh Bhardwaj, heading H R department from Indo swift Limited company from SIDCO samba were invited Both the professionals shared their vast experience in Industrial life and they also awared the Students about requirements and opportunities offered by the various Industries in the Country to attract the young Graduates in different discipline. The students listened them patiently and various questions before them to clear their doubts regarding career in corporate sector.

16. A one Day awareness Programme for Civil Defence volunteers under the banner of Directorate of HG/CD and SDRF J&K was organised in the college on 6 March 2019. In this Programme the team incharge Sh. Surinder Singh Jamwal, Asst. Sub Inspector of Civil Defence Distt. Samba along with his Active warden Sh. Sanjay Gupta and Division warden Sh.Rajnish Pargal and their two instructors, Sh. Jyoti Parkash and Sh. Anil Kumar visted in this college and shared their knowledge and experience with the students and faculty of the college .

During the programme they gave demonstrated knowledge and valuable life saving information and other tips of dealing with adverse situation whenever and wherever we face in our life like LPG cylinder leakage, fire incidents ,road accidents, natural calamities etc. The students listen them carefully and asked many questions to the team to clear their doubts and the team members gave them satisfactory reply. In the end a vote of thanks was presented by senior faculty members of the college Sh. Dalbir Singh, lecture in Education.

17. On 7 March 2019 An Industrial visit of science students of subject of chemistry was organised in Indo Swift Ltd. Company in SIDCO samba under the supervision of principal Prof. V. S. Hans, senior faculty member Sh. Dalbir Singh and lecturer in chemistry Mr. Tilak Raj, 25 students of said subject visited in industry.

The group was received by Mr. Ramesh Bhardwaj, Hon’ble manager of the company along with the experts. This company produces different chemicals used for the production of high quality medicine. Very practical interaction took place between the students and experts. The students raised number of questions to the

experts who satisfied the students effectively. The experts also gave a practical show of the quality management system in the industry. In the end the manager also gave assurance for giving job to the deserving students after they complete their graduation. The students were fully impressed by this visit in the industry.

18. On 11-3-2019, The District Administration Samba arranged election voting training programme for the staff and the students in the college. Mr. M.L Tasir , Additional Development Commissioner was the Chief Guest in this Training programme. Sh. Tarsem Atri senior lecturer in commerce, Hr. Sec. School Samba was the Trainner. Prof. V.S Hans, principal, Welcomed the Chief guest and others accompanied the Additional Development Commissioner. Since the new election voting machines have been introduced in the system , so it was very essential to update the knowledge of the voters by giving them the proper Training of casting the votes . This Machine even carries the photo of candidates, so there is absolutely no scope of confusion for voters

Mr. M.L Tasir and Sh. Tarsem Atri dealt in the detail about casting of votes and avoiding any confusion regarding casting of votes . The Teacher and students were given very proper and upto date Training for the voting . Many staff members and students raised a number of question which were replied by both the officers very satisfactory . In the end staff secretary Prof. Kushal Kumari presented vote of thanks to all the officers from the District Administration

19. On 25 March 2019 The Department of Botany also organized a field Trip for semester 2nd students of the college at wild life Sanctuary at Mansar . The Head of the Department Miss. Shavi Sharma accompanied the trip . Under the guidance of the teacher. The students collected knowledge and observed various species of plant of that area.

20. Festival of Holi was celebrated with fully Joy on 20 the March 2019.

21.On 25th of March 2019 , the Department Of Environment of Science organized a field trip for the students of semester 2nd to hilly area at Mansar . The Head of Department Miss. Navita verma accompanied the trip . Under the guidance of the Teacher the students studied about various natural resources and recoded the biodiversity of that area.
