Where is Sustainable FM today?
Sustainable Facilities Management is now being seen as moreof a crucial necessity than a luxury. FMs must rise to modernday challenges to continue to meet the bottom line.
Growing demand to address issues of climate change, risingfuel costs, waste, ethical and social issues and CSR.
Focus shifting towards operational phase of 98% of existing UKbuilding stock to deliver sustainability. FMs remit!
Increasingly recognised as a viable tool for delivering
sustainability in industry eg. DTI Strategy for SustainableConstruction' 2007.

Why do we need a sustainable FM toolkit?
Facilities managers are faced with an overwhelming amount of
information.
Focus for the implementation sustainable FM needs to be placed onthe vast pool of existing building stock.
Current issues are given greater attention than other issues whichmay have more significance in the future.
