What is Big Brain?• Big Brain is a learning platform designed to provide educators,

administrators and learners with a single robust, secure and integrated system to create personalised learning environments 

OR• Big Brain provides students with an interface for

accessing online courses, including the syllabus, course calendars, lessons, assignments , quizzes, discussion

forums, tests & exams

System that enables educators deliver content to learners using technology.

System is comprised of 12 modules

1. Classroom Enrolment Module

• Typically, lecturer/teacher has full control over the course

• Teachers, with permissions, can manually enrol students or unenrol students in their courses. (Just click of a button)

2. Lesson Module• Content / Notes seen by the student is created by the

teacher• Discussion Forum • Course News

3. Exam / Tests Module• Timed Exams• Multiple Choice• True/ False• Short answer & essay

4. Assignment Module• Assignments can be specified with a due date and a maximum grade. • Students can upload their assignments (any file format) to the server – they are

datestamped. • For each particular assignment, the whole class can be assessed (grade and

comment) on one page in one form. • Teacher feedback is appended to the assignment page for each student, and

notification is mailed out. • The teacher can choose to allow resubmission of assignments after grading (for

regarding) • Advanced assignments can allow multiple files to be uploaded. This could keep

together preplanning maps, outlines, research papers and presentations. (Not for beginners)

5. Resource Module• File Management• Resources can display many types of media content

files by a single link on the course page, such as: • Powerpoint Presentation• Video & Audio formats• Internal web-pages• PDF & Word documents• Upload and manage zipped & unzipped files

6. SMS & Email services• Sends bulk or single sms to students – important

notices• Mass or individual emailing services

7 . Chat Module• allows smooth, synchronous text interaction • Includes profile pictures in the chat window
