To get a better understanding of Big Data, Matthijs van Leeuwen will first put the term into context: where does it come from and what does it entail? Next, he will focus the attention on the actual analysis of data, i.e., he will provide some high-level intuition of a few commonly used data mining and machine learning techniques. Many such techniques exist and depending on the data, all are capable of providing valuable insights that may lead to, e.g., better decisions. Also a friendly game of petanque is part of this relaxing visit to one of the best kept secrets of the Côte d’Azur. Including lunch.
