Why is marketing your business through social media important?Frist you have to look at, why is marketing your business as a whole important?93% of people perform studies/research online before they even pick up the

phone and call your business. Therefore, Marketing is an opportunity that should be seized. 1. Evaluate the social media platform that will be most beneficial to your business.2. Identify how you want to use your social media platform.

Do you want a lot of likes?Do you want a lot of followers?Do you want to highlight accomplishments of employees?

3. Engage your audience.a. Contest b. Article about how your business gives back to the community c. Give back Wednesdays

How do you allocate a resource to be in charge of marketing?Start Small – Just dip your toe in the water.

1. Identify someone who can give 5-10 minutes a week towards marketing.2. Update profiles same day every week. Resources like "Hootsuite" can

make updating a lot of different profiles easier. 3. Identify the times of the day, or the times of the week that your audience is

leaving feedback/answers and tap in on those times. It's not about quantity, it’s about quality!

Who is the audience you are trying to reach by marketing online?ANY given audience can be online. 1. Focus in on who you want to reach out to.2. Identify the platform that audience is on.

It's better to focus on one platform, and the audience in that one platform. Then carry that audience with you to your next platform.

What are the most popular marketing platforms?Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Para scoop, Snapchat, Youtube, Youtube TV, LinkedIn.

READ – Find out where your industries audience is and start there. Add a newsletter (American Marketing Association) into your reading mix.

1. Retail conscious/product heavy then evaluate Facebook for marketing.2. Business to business/recruitment side then evaluate LinkedIn for

marketing. Facebook is the major player right now.

One piece of advice to leave us with?a. Be consistent.b. Be proactive.c. Have a skeleton in place (start small with a plan).d. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.e. Let your audience tell you what they want to hear and see.
