TWO ARTISTS TEAM UP TO PAINT BIKE SAFTEY MURAL AT BIKESMITH BROOKLYN

WHO: Brooklyn artists Miss Boombox and Paz Mallea in collaboration with BikeSmith Brooklyn, a local bike repair and retail shop. WHAT: Two Brooklyn artists have dreamed up a collaborative mural spotlighting bike safety to encourage bikers of all age to wear helmets and engage the community about the importance of safe biking practices during a time when urban cycling is on the rise due to bike sharing programs and an increase in the amount of bike lanes across the city. WHEN: Sunday July 7, 2013 and Monday July 8, 2013 WHERE: BIKESMITH BROOKLYN 149 Smith Street, Between Wyckoff St. and Bergen St. WHY: Members of the media are invited to watch as the mural is painted. Both

artists and a representative from BikeSmith Brooklyn will be present to interview about their motivation for this artistic piece; to share the insights on urban cycling; and to share their own stories about biking in New York City’s most dangerous borough for cyclists.
