The kitchen/family room is fitted with a four oven AGA, dishwasher and separate oven. There is an amazing walk in fridge. The work tops are teak and there are two Belfast sinks. The centre island connects the kitchen with the living/dining area.

The floor is tiled throughout and there is a beautiful fireplace in the dining area. French doors open to the patios from here.To the other side of the kitchen is a utility room, shower room and access to the garage.

The dining room, with hardwood flooring, has a bay window overlooking the rear garden. There is also a separate study with oak flooring and bay windows. The downstairs cloakroom has a modern suite.

There is a guest bedroom suite with seating area, built in furniture and an en-suite shower room. Three further bedrooms and a bathroom complete the upstairs accommodation.

We wanted to incorporate some features from home into the design

so you will notice the many fireplaces, which create a cosy environment during the chilly winter months. The Scandinavian influenced design means the property is well insulated so never cold in winters unlike many older village properties.

The garden just lends itself to entertaining, with double French

doors leading from the drawing room and the conservatory to the large patio. The orientation of the property is as such that the garden always enjoys beautiful sunsets and so is sheltered from the noise of the outside world. The garden is full of fruit trees - with apples, damsons and figs to enjoy - and perennial flowers, which I pick and decorate the house with.

The large paved drive to the front provides plenty of parking and access to two garages. There are additional out buildings for storage and a wood store. The rear garden is beautifully landscaped and extends to about one acre.

There are lovely raised patios along the back of the house.

Vendor Insight“We first saw the property in 1992, when we were looking to rent a property in the midlands,” recalls current owner May. “We were originally only going to live in the UK for a year but I absolutely fell head over heels in love with this gorgeous property and garden the second I saw it. Of all the other properties we looked at nothing could compare, I had redesigned the place before we had even bought it! We tracked down the owners who were living in Holland and convinced them to sell it to us and have spent the past 22 years creating our own little piece of Scandinavia here in the heart of England.”

The family, originally from Norway, spent many years creating their perfect home on this stunning plot. “We wanted to incorporate some features from home into the design so you will notice the many fireplaces, which create a cosy environment during the chilly winter months. The Scandinavian influenced design means the property is well insulated so never cold in winters unlike many older village properties.”

“The house layout means everyone in the family has the space and freedom to do as they like, together or alone, without hassle. The rooms are also very large for a house of this size, which has allowed for everyone to have their own personal space, while also creating excellent opportunities to entertain family and friends. There is nothing like waking up in the morning to the stunning views over the grounds or watching the sunset beyond, with a glass of wine on the terrace.”

“I am a Christmas person, and the house really reflects that. Along with the warmth from the Jøtul fireplaces, the smell of festive treats cooking in the AGA creates a really homely environment. We always have two Christmas trees, one in the conservatory where we enjoy our Christmas dinner and another in the drawing room where we retire to open presents and watch a family film.”

An English country house with a Scandinavian flare, the property is well connected to the neighbourhood, which is ideal for a family with children or a couple looking to be near to the local amenities. “We are within walking distance of three local gastro pubs, our favourite of which is The Bell which has won numerous awards for its excellent food. There are several brilliant golf courses and plenty of great local walks for a Sunday afternoon, with the River Avon just beyond the cricket pitch. Of a weekend morning, a leisurely drive to Gloucestershire, Stratford-upon-Avon or the Cotswold towns of Morton in the Marsh and Chipping Camden is always a delight. Warwick Parkway Station is about 15 minutes away, which has been really handy since our son moved down to London for work.

Despite being well located the property is very private. “You feel like you are in your own world, when you sit at the bottom of the garden and look back up towards the house, it’s truly wonderful. It is the main feature, which called to my heart when we first saw it. In the summer the south facing garden provides the perfect location to have sizeable gatherings, with parking to the front of the property allowing for up to 12 cars. “We have had marquees out on the lawn for several occasions including my daughters 18th birthday celebrations. The garden just lends itself to entertaining, with double French doors leading from the drawing room and the conservatory to the large patio. The orientation of the property is as such that the garden always enjoys beautiful sunsets and so is sheltered from the noise of the outside world. The garden is full of fruit trees - with apples, damsons and figs to enjoy - and perennial flowers, which I pick and decorate the house with.”

“It’s a very special place for me, it has everything you could want which is why we ended up staying here for so long. The children have grown up here and have since flown the nest, so we have decided it is the right time for us to move back to Norway. It is the perfect house for all occasions; it allows you to have your own space as well as together space, and we will all take away very fond memories of pancake parties in the kitchen and summer nights spent out on the patio looking for shooting stars.”

WARWICKSHIRE

Positioned in the heart of England the county is famous for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare. There are no cities in Warwickshire since both Coventry and Birmingham were incorporated into the West Midlands County in 1974 and are now metropolitan authorities in themselves.

Warwickshire hosts several key towns including Warwick, Stratford upon Avon, Kenilworth, Henley In Arden and Rugby to name a few.

The northern tip of the county is only three miles from the Derbyshire border. An average-sized English county covering an area of almost 2,000 km2, it runs some 60 miles north to south. Equivalently it extends as far north as Shrewsbury in Shropshire and as far south as Banbury in north Oxfordshire.
