Made from acrylic,not glass

Water oxygenation,better by design

Public aquariums are made from acrylic andnot glass. All biOrbs are made from acrylic.

Why? Because acrylic is 10 times stronger thanglass. In fact acrylic which is just over one inchthick (32mm), is bullet resistant.

It’s also noticeably clearerAcrylic has a transparency rate of 93% makingit the clearest material known. Glass only allows 70% of light to pass through andthick glass always has a green tint.

And warmer tooAcrylic aquariums retain heat nearly twice aswell as glass which means they require lesspower to heat.

Fish keeping folklore dictates that you musthave a large surface area of water in order tohave oxygenation exchange. We’re prettyused to people jumping to conclusions, butthe truth is that the oxygenation in a biOrb issecond to none.

But don’t take our word for itWe asked the University of Veterinary Medicinein Hannover to do an independent testagainst a standard rectangular aquarium andthis is what they said, word for word.

“The oxygen concentrations in the biOrbaquarium were higher than in the rectangularaquarium. The oxygen concentrations in thebiOrb aquarium were probably higher due tothe vigorous aeration and turbulence. Thiskeeps the gases in equilibrium with the airabove the water surface. This caused the gasesto be well distributed and redundant gases tobe easily expelled.”

Fish waste sinksAll biOrbs have a filter at the bottom of theaquarium. It’s where solid waste naturally settles. Put simply, the filter works wherethere is most to filter.

We’ve even made it easy to replace. It takesseconds to do and you only need to changeit every four to six weeks.

Mother Nature works for youThis is ceramic media. You’ll find it in everybiOrb. It’s made by firing clay to 1500°C. It isincredibly porous and totally inert.

Its unique shape allows the waterto circulate through and around it.

Why is that important?Amazingly, the ceramic media provides a surface area the size of a football pitch for good bacteriato live on. This bacteria is too small to be seen with the naked eye and feeds on fishwaste. This is Mother Nature’s natural biological filtration.

A filtration system that worksfrom the bottom up

The biOrb filtration cycle1. The air driven filtration system creates

vigorous water flow and a constantlychanging water surface. This maintainsoxygen saturation.

2. The circular flow of water then collectsany fish waste on its way down.

3. It draws the waste through the ceramicmedia where the natural biological filtration absorbs some toxins. The freshlyoxygenated water also feeds the bacteria.

4. Any remaining waste is trapped in thesponge cartridge. The water then passesthrough resin particles and natural stabilisers to remove toxic substances and keep the pH levels constant.

5. The clean water is then oxygenated as itflows back up the bubble tube to repeatthe cycle.
