Hello Everyone,

Well February, snow and Continental shooting is in

full swing. Over time, I have noticed that clubs that

consistently seem to do well in the Continental league

have a high level of participation in this shoot. The

adage here is that if you have enough shooters,

someone is bound to have a good day and make up

for the rest of us! I hear from shooters all the time

that I am not good enough to shoot registered birds or

league shooting. The fact is that the sooner you start,

the better you get. The extra pressure of a formal

shoot and shooting with other good shooters typically

brings your scores up. Because the league is

structured not unlike the PITA shooting classes, it

allows you to start at a lower class and practice if you

will as you move up and provides opportunities to win

as you get better and move up in each class.

Other benefits of going to a Continental shoot are that

you get to visit other clubs, meet other shooters, and

make new friends. I always enjoy watching the other

shooters and try to pick up shooting tips as I go. My

other favorite thing is to read the local bulletin board

and newsletter and see what is going on at the other

clubs. At the very least, you will get to hang out at a

new gun club and an opportunity to improve your

shooting. You do not have to shoot all of the events,

maybe just browse the schedule and find a shoot that

has a club that you have not seen yet….or one that fits your schedule and travel requirements. The top 5 BDGC shooters at each shoot are listed at the club and in the newsletter! There is a great banquet at the final shoot at the Evergreen gun club and if you can only make one Continental shoot, I would recommend you spend a day at that club and order a dinner in advance. for these legislative alerts, it is a good way to stay on top of what is going on in your neck of the woods. House Bill 1508 This is in regards to noise created by gun clubs….us! This bill is being introduced by of all people a Democrat, but appears to be well intended and is a result of the ongoing lawsuit with the Kitsap Rifle & Revolver range where in people that have built homes next to an existing gun range are seeking to restrict the hours of operation for the gun club. If you go online and read about it, you can decide for yourself and call or email your legislative representative and let them know how you feel about it. http://www.guns.com/wa-bill-introduced-to-protect-shooting-ranges-from-noise-related-legal-action.html http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Bill-would-protect-gun-ranges-from-new-noise-laws---137380298.html

Another one that might be of interest to you pistol and rifle

shooters is the new Suppressor bill that passed 47-0 and is

headed for the governor’s desk for final signature: House Bill

1016.

Note: The club also has a new supply of AA Hulls for

sale at .03 each and are in bags of 100, there are some in the

newer HS (High Strength) style of hull and quite a few in the

older CF (Compression Formed) AA hull. Mark will update the

computer to add these items to the inventory and anyone with

access to the components locker can get them out for you.

Thanks to everyone for their club support and making, this a

great place to shoot.

Tom

The Black Diamond Continental team moved up from 10th at the Gig Harbor shoot to 9th after the club shoot this weekend. Mark Downing (94/100) and Cody Ballard (42/50) both tied in their respective classes. Mark is shooting in Class B now after having won class C at the Gig Harbor shoot. The club grossed over $2,000 dollars as proceeds from the shoot and enjoyed a great shoot with the new Pat traps performing very well. Breakfast and Lunch served up by Jennifer Chevalier and Marilyn Manyon was excellent and the word was out at some of the other clubs even before the day was out and the shoot over! Special thanks to Bob Sadesk, Bob Ballard and Mark Downing for helping to organize and supervise the shooting activity. The father son teams of Jeff/Jered Detwiler and Bob/Cody Ballard made sure the traphouses were always full of birds and the shooters got to keep shooting. Thanks to all of the folks that came out to take a turn and score in such inclement weather, if you did not get to see it, the picture of Dean scoring and Gregg calling the losses from field 3 was an inspiration that makes you glad to be a part of a team like that. Well, there is more great continental shooting to come, so come out practice and maybe try out one of the other clubs, the schedule is in the club house or go to: http://www.continentalshooting.com

Please check your newsletter and/or online carefully for range

closures. Closures are listed on the monthly calendar and in the

section titled Range Closures. It is best to check in both places

for closures. Sometimes the phrase “Range Closed” is omitted on

the calendar due to the limited space in the individual calendar

date blocks. The club is always closed during Law Enforcement

agency use. Note that the rifle/pistol ranges are closed for

shooting during the Continental League and PITA shoots whether

it is listed on the calendar or not. This is a courtesy to shooters

paying entry fees and shooting for trophies. Please check the

Range Closure section for all scheduled range closures. If you

mistakenly remove the “Range Closed” sign at the gate, please

replace it immediately.

*Note: Entire club is closed during police events

Due to the weather, the January RSO Meeting and the General Meeting on January 17 was canceled. The next RSO Meeting and General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 21st. If you did not get to see the club house road when the snow melted, it looked like someone had exploded tree bombs all over it. The road in and out of the club was strewn with fallen branches, limbs and tree’s across the road. The club would like to express its heartfelt appreciation to those that went out on their own and cleaned up all of the fallen debris. But none more so than our very own “Nelson” who was the first on the scene with a chainsaw doing the initial road clearing. Others that should get honorable mention were: Mark Downing, Bob Sadesk, Clinton Shaw, Pat Manyon and Reuben Kettel. If you were there and we missed you on this go around, let us know and we will put a thank you in the next newsletter.
