A suffix is letters added onto the end of a root word. There are many different suffixes with different purposes e.g. ful = careful, ness = fairness, less = endless, est = longest
We are looking at using the suffix er to change a verb (doing word) into a noun (naming word).
Please see the teaching pages below and complete the task.
Task: Personal Writing
A Time Capsule for May 2020
Task: Create a Time Capsule that shows what life is like at this moment in time- May 2020. (See instruction sheet below).
A time capsule is a collection of things about our life at the moment put in a sealed container. It is then hidden in a safe place or buried in your garden. When it is opened years later you can look back and discover how things have changed.
Use the attached sheets to give you some ideas of what you can put in your Time Capsule. You may wish to tie each sheet up with wool or string to put in your box.
Use all of your skills you have been learning in your writing.
· Different types of font- colour, capital letters, fancy writing
· Descriptive words to describe feelings, objects, songs etc.
· Pictures to illustrate feelings and personal writing
· Neat presentation and eye catching colour
Try to make your Time Capsule as interesting as you can and remember to hide it somewhere safe.
Post a photo of you making or hiding your capsule on Teams if you wish.

Spelling Chilli Challenge - Dictation
Dictation is an activity used during consolidation week as a further test of pupils’ knowledge of their spelling words. This allows them to transfer their knowledge to the context of writing.
Read out the sentences to your child but do not let them see them. They should write the sentence into their jotter ensuring they use a capital letter and full stop in the correct place. Read the sentence as many times as necessary. Only correct the spelling words that they are being assessed on: ignore any other wrongly spelled words. Within each sentence, let your child know the spelling words that they are being assessed on so that they can check them.
