A Message from our CEO The Spring Fair held recently in our front carpark area was a wonderful event! A huge thank you to all involved in assisting, preparing and running the day – well done! Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the Fair, as did many families and locals. The petting zoo was a favourite with my daughter on the day. We are delighted that Elsie Mari, our Clinical Coordinator, has recently graduated her Nurse Practitioner Masters degree. Well done Elsie! Once officially endorsed by the Nurses Registration Board, Elsie will be able to provide a range of support to our GP’s, and additional care services to our residents. It is an amazing achievement to obtain such a degree – which involves a lot of hard work, and we are all very proud Elsie has achieved this. Sadly one of our board members, Graham Kenny has resigned from the board. We wish Graham all the best and thank him for his contribution to BlueWave over the last several years. We are pleased to advise of a new board member, Ian Winn, who brings with him an extensive senior business management and accounting skills background. Welcome Ian! Late October we plan to begin replacing the older kitchenette cabinets in 30 of The Shores bedrooms. That will see out the current planned refurbishment work. We are still working towards more substantial building plans, to join the two buildings together, and further develop Household models of care with some planned expansion. We are aiming to have those draft plans available for viewing by November, with lodgement for Development Application to occur before the year end. AntibioticsAntimicrobial Stewardship is the act of using antibiotics appropriately—that is, using them only when truly needed and using the right antibiotic for each infection. BlueWave Living has an Antibiotic Stewardship program that aims to guide Registered Nurses and other clinicians toward more responsible and effective use of antibiotics ensuring appropriate therapy and reducing adverse consequences of antimicrobial use, including antimicrobial resistance.

Help us to Help Others......During the next month BlueWave Living will be collecting items for the Share The Dignity project.

Items listed can be handed in to BlueWave Living Reception.

You have the power to make life better for a woman or girl experiencing homelessness or poverty. Provide pads and tampons, personal hygiene products and everyday luxuries to homeless women, women at risk or women experiencing domestic violence.

You can find out more by visiting sharethedignity.com.au

Increase of Daily Care Fee The Daily Care Fee helps pay for your day-to-day services such as meals, cleaning, facilities management and laundry, so you pay this fee even for days when you might be away overnight eg on holiday or in hospital. The rate is set at 85% of the single person rate of the basic age pension and is currently $51.21 per day. The government increased the price on 20 September, changing in line with increases to the age pension, to $51.63 per day. A small adjustment will appear on your statement this month.
