GreenEarth Heritage Foundation, Inc. Philippines was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines on May 22, 2009. It is accredited by the Philippine Council of NGO Certification.

Stark weather patterns at the foothills of the Sierra Madre where we are at GreenEarth result in strong typhoons followed by almost 5 months of the year with little or no rain. Thanks to the Philippine Center for Water and Sanitation (PCWS) who provided the low-cost technology and the German Embassy who funded it, we have been able to fabricate our first FOUR rainwater harvesting tanks this year.

Green Earth Heritage Foundation is a Christian organization whose mission is to preserve the environment, adhere to sound and sustainable agricultural practices and assist in alleviation of poverty through livelihood and community development. We ARe CHRistiAn

We acknowledge One God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In Jesus Christ alone we have the promise of salvation.

We seek to follow Jesus in His Teachings to nurture and protect all of God’s gifts, in His respect for the dignity of all men and women, in His call to love others as ourselves, and in His offer of abundant life to those who choose to follow Him.

We ARe steWARDs

The resources at our disposal are not our own.

They are entrusted by God; therefore, we are committed to sound and sustainable agricultural practices that will preserved and protect the environment for the generations to come.

We BelieVe in tHe DiGnity OF eVeRy HuMAn BeinG

We are committed to help our workers and beneficiaries fulfil their dreams through fair compensation, benefits and a housing plan right on GreenEarth’s land donation.

This VILLAGE OF HOPE will adhere to the principles of green design. The plan will be implemented through working partnerships with professionals as well as non-stock, nonprofit organizations that share our core values of fairness , ecology, health and Christ-centeredness.

We PROMOte GOOD HeAltH The Bible teaches that “the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19)”. We, therefore, have to make choices that will enhance wellness and prevent disease.

About the Foundation

4 54

Agrarian unrest has been a hallmark of Central Luzon’s history for over 60 years now. It is the cradle of the Hukbalahap movement which metamorphosed into the

Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People’s Army.

Thus, the manifestation of idle yet fertile land has been the basis of socio-economic conflict as seen in pleasant unrest and the unequal distribution of wealth experienced by our nation.

This is the social backdrop of our fledging Foundation’s mission. Nestled in the Foothills of the majestic Sierra Madre mountain range in historic San Miguel, Bulacan are over 100 hectares of bucolic hills. These were donated to GreenEarth Heritage Foundation by a generous landowner in early 2009.

How it all began...

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.”

Psalm 24:1

55

The Land was purchased roughly 40 years ago with the landowner’s dream of developing a viable agricultural endeavour. However, as is often said, “work got in the way,” and the land was left idle, susceptible to both fraudulent transactions and illegal squatting. Its lush potential was never achieved.

Hence, the decision to cede the raw Garden of Eden to our foundation to ensure its viable promise for beneficiaries without the taint of potential profiteering and the past mistake of non-use.

Over 139 families live in the foundation’s immediate vicinity, mostly in abject poverty. An overwhelming majority of the residents have only attained an elementary level of education and 48 percent of the population are below 20 years old.

GreenEarth’s mission is to assist in poverty alleviation by providing livelihoods centered in organic agriculture and by empowering communities through spiritual transformation in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We believe that it is through a personal relationship with Christ alone that we will be able to bring hope, change and a bright future to the people of the community that we serve.

Dear Friends,

Another year, another season of blessings and progress for GreenEarth!

We have seen our mission field move forward this year, thanks in huge part to the enthusiastic support of several of our new and repeat donors, benefactors, customers, mission partners and supporters.

Milestones were established through the German Embassy’s generous grant whereby a drip-irrigation system was established to supply much-needed water in the most efficient and economical fashion to our pilot Moringa plantation of 10,000 trees. In addition, we were able to build four (4) rain harvesting tanks, a FIRST in our history, in line with our sustainable environmental commitment. At GreenEarth, we so need to harness every drop of precious rain given our stark weather patterns --- many months of dry spell, followed by torrential downpours.

On the renewable energy front, we went SOLAR this year!

One Meralco Foundation provided the necessary funding for our first solar panel providing sustainable power for our first submersible pump. The solar-powered submersible pump system was installed by One Renewable, the Philippines’ leading systems integrator for solar energy.

The GreenEarth Heritage Foundation mission of “Transforming Land and Transforming Lives” was featured in Go Negosyo’s 50 Inspiring Stories of Agri-Entrepreneurs. On pages 144 to 149 of this inspiring book, the compelling GreenEarth story is captured in prose. We are privileged to be in the same company of more notable agri-enterprises such as the multi-awarded La Frutera, the pioneering Gourmet Farms and world-renowned Puentespina Orchids and Tropical Plants amongst others.

We thank the Almighty for making us reach our first Php 1 Million in produce sales after 3 ½ years of fastidious labor and unwavering commitment to organic agriculture and its health benefits. We are blessed to see a cult following of our farmers’ organic produce. We now have dozens of repeat customers from various health-conscious households in the Makati, Alabang, Pasig and Quezon City enclaves to prominent companies in the Makati Central Business District and Bonifacio Global City, a leading five star hotel and forward-thinking restaurants and establishments. We are truly grateful for their kind and generous support!

Last but not least, in line with our mission in transforming lives, we are pleased to share with you the good news of having ten (10) GreenEarth farmers’ kids accepted as full scholars of the Preppi School in Pasig City.

These blessed children, whose ages range from 5 to 12 years old, will be given free board and lodging at Preppi School as part of their scholarship. We thank Preppi School Foundation for their immense kindness, fore-sight and generosity in selecting these rural farmers’ children to be their first scholarship recipients, giving them this extraordinary opportunity for world-class education.

We are humbled by the awesome blessings bestowed upon by the God we serve at GreenEarth this past year. To Him be all the glory and praise.

Sincerely,James and Mylene Matti

Transforming Land,Transforming Lives on Year 4

Cerelina is now in her late sixties. After decades of subsistence farming and not having a place she could call home due to her landless, itinerant lifestyle, she knocked at GreenEarth’s doors

last year yearning for security, stability and a better life.

She has become our model organic farmer with one of the highest productivities. Her energy and passion for organic farming puts the younger, more robust men to shame. What an inspiring example she is to many!

DA-RFU3 Funding for Well Development at GreenEarth

100K for Well Development at GreenEarth

Our Northern hilltop development is pining for water. This grant is such a breakthrough.

DA-RFU3 Funding for Well Development at GreenEarth

Aileen T. Deocampo, GreenEarth’s farm manager and site administrator, received the grant check from DA-RFU 3 personnel in their San Fernando, Pampanga office on August 3, 2012.

Installation of Pump and Electricity at Well # 4

The foundation aims to alleviate poverty by providing livelihood programs through sustainable and organic agriculture. The vital need of our agricultural programs is water. As the saying

goes, “If there is water, there is life”.

Moringa, commonly known as “malunggay” is a highly medicinal tree with minimal water requirement.

Establishment of moringa plantation means future income and improvement of life with our farmer beneficiaries. Although moringa is considered a drought-tolerant crop, adequate water resources is still necessary during the crucial stages of establishment.

The grant has allowed us to bring to fruition our vision to establish our first pilot plantation of 10,000 organically grown moringa trees at GreenEarth.

We finished!!!

All Glory to the Living God who was always with us through it all.

THANK YOU so much for believing in our mission and being one with us in development. We will never forget the kindness of DA-RFU III to our community at GreenEarth Heritage Foundation, Inc. The development of these two wells are extremely valuable to our ongoing agricultural development.

Establishment of the FIRST rainwater harvesting tank at GreenEarth

As climate change sets in, more than ever, we must harness RAIN to serve both domestic and agricultural needs. Through the

help of the Philippine Center for Water and Sanitation (PCWS), we were able to build our very FIRST Rain Water Harvesting Tank at last at GreenEarth.

Thanks to One Meralco Foundation who felt the “show must go on” at GreenEarth despite voltage run-offs given our distance from the nearest Meralco facility, One Meralco Foundation fully

supported our need for alternative sources of energy to power up drip irrigation for our Pilot Moringa Plantation of 10,000 trees! We also wish to thank One Renewable, the Philippines’ leading systems integrator in the renewable energy sector for their enthusiastic partnership in seeing this pioneering project to completion. Thank you LORD for the rays of the golden sun that you have provided for us to capture on this SOLAR panel.

GO Negosyo Book Launch

GreenEarth has been featured as one of the 50 inspiring stories of Agri-Entrepreneurs

in the recently released Go Negosyo book published by the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship Foundation, Inc.

We are humbled by the honor of being the only non-stock , non-prof i t organization listed in Go Negosyo’s “Magic 50” on the agri-producers category.

Most of the featured agri-businesses are far more established and renowned enterprises. These include: Ernst & Young’s 2009 Enterpreneur of the Year Tennyson Chen’s Bounty Agro Ventures (purveyors of the ubiquitous Chooks to Go rotisserie chicken), major banana exporter La Frutera owned by another Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and former Agriculture secretary Senen Bacani, the Davao-based famed orchid farm Puentespina Orchids and Tropical Plants and leading sugar producer Roxas Holdings, to name a few.

After 3 years and 10 months since our founding date on May 22, 2009, we at GreenEarth finally hit the million mark in sales by year ended Dec. 31, 2012, with every peso going back to our livelihood program.

GO Negosyo’s book launch took place on March 5 at the Manila Polo Club.

GreenEarth’s Founder and Executive Director, Mylene V. Matti, M.D., its farm manager and site administrator, Ms. Aileen T. Deocampo, and Ms. Tisha Cruz, GreenEarth’s Advisory Board member in Education, attended the event on behalf of the farmers of GreenEarth.

19

We dedicate this recognition to all of you, our faithful produce buyers and supporters for believing in our mission with us.

We look forward to your continuing support and to an even-stronger partnership as we aspire for the next million in sales.

Thank you very much for all that you have done!

Thanks to the amazing efforts of Lucas Mercado, a seventh grade student of Everest Academy who launched his 100 Bicycles-Recycled Rides campaign on Facebook and

in several private schools around Metro Manila, Summer of 2013 was kicked off to an exciting start for the Children of GreenEarth!

Lucas, superheaded the turnover of bike donations for every one of our 42 beneficiary families.

Lucas, his entire family and a number of guests and supporters of the bicycles campaign came to meet the GreenEarth kids, tour our organic farm and do an official turnover of the bikes to extremely eager, excited and wide-eyed children who have been praying for a blessing such as this for many years. Owning a bike ranked the highest amongst their prayer requests last Christmas. What an answered prayer! To GOD be the glory!

At GreenEarth, we have families coming from all across the farmlands and the nearest township, 1-2 hours walk each way, who hear about GreenEarth’s programs by word-of mouth. The number of families coming to our mission just keeps on growing. These bicycles are already helping the children greatly, both boys and girls, by cutting their commute back and forth GreenEarth in half! As a result, they are able to come earlier, leave later, spend more time reading and studying and most of all, have a fun and exhilarating ride along the way.

Our kids will be physically fit and mentally fit, thanks to these amazing life-changers.

“When can we say that we have transformed land and transformed lives at GreenEarth?”

“I am humbled at the awesomeness of the GOD we serve to let us see the dawn of a bright new day this soon, just one year after we have established the Learning Center at GreenEarth, to see a farmer’s child make it to the halls of the International School of Manila” to reach for his stars.

FranklinCovey Booktrucks Donation

“We enable greatness in people and organizations everywhere.”

- FranklinCovey mission statement

We are grateful for the kind monetary donation of FranklinCovey Philippines which funded the

fabrication of six (6) gleaming lifetime steel book trucks to our Learning Center. The book trucks have been delivered and are now serving the Children of GreenEarth. A globally renowned provider of time management training and assessment services for organizations and individuals with offices in 123 countries, FranklinCovey selected GreenEarth Heritage Foundation, Inc. to be its Christmas beneficiary owing to its common goal of educating and empowering people from all walks of life. Their gift-giving activity and fellowship with the GreenEarth children just be-fore Christmas 2012 was proudly featured on their webpage. They also gifted GreenEarth with cop-ies of their recent release “7 Habits of Happy Kids”. They shared the book via an animated storytelling session with the GreenEarth kids during their farm visit. We wish to thank the management team and associates of Franklin Covey Philippines for their generosity of time and resources. They certainly live up to the ideals of their models who were inspired by the writings of Benjamin Franklin and the “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” , a world bestseller written by their late co-founder, Stephen Covey. The children of GreenEarth have been made literate and happy by your day of service and generosity. Thank you very much!

For almost two months now, Kathleen Ong Tan, has been travelling by bus by herself,

every Saturday as much as possible, to come to GreenEarth. This commute, which includes crossing our bridgeless river and unpaved roads, is over 7 hours round-trip for her each time. She covers all her expenses and asks nothing from the foundation.

Kathleen is a mechanical engineer by profession. She graduated cum laude from UP Diliman in 2007, and ranked #7 in her board licensure exams.

“I have always wanted to share the blessings that I have received by volunteering. The fields that I am most interested in are wildlife conservation, environmental protection and education. I have seen a lot of touching stories on TV where caring

people take so much effort to teach children in far flung areas where education is not easily available. Teachers and students alike go through so much trouble just to attend class. The teachers who selflessly give and the students who work hard to prepare for a better future inspire me. I feel like I have more than enough of everything I need, so I want to share some of them with others who need some more.”

“I discovered GreenEarth through the show It’s Showtime. They featured a GreenEarth child who was granted a scholarship in an international school. His is another inspiring story. I looked up GreenEarth and found out that they have an agriculture and a literacy program for farmers and their children, as I am interested in both fields, I decided to volunteer. My goals are to help the children understand the things that they are studying in school more and to let them know that they too need to exert effort so they could understand what is taught to them. I hope I would be able to help them go through school and prepare for their lives after school as well.”

We are in awe at the goodness of the LORD to the Children of GreenEarth for putting it in Kathleen’s heart to love to teach them Math. The kids are so blessed to have such a selfless topnotch professional coming to be of help.

you are such an answered prayer Kathleen! tHAnK yOu FROM tHe BOttOM OF OuR HeARts for your love and kindness.
