During the Season of Giving many elderly nursing home patients who have no relatives or friends are often overlooked. Let's face it, this year has been extremely hard on people in nursing homes. This year, I am working to give hand cream snowman to 314 nursing home residents. This will give a gift to everyone in 3 homes. YOU can make a difference! Participate in Mary Kay Adopt a Grandparent Program. Just $10 will purchase a beautifully packaged Mary Kay hand cream, dressed up like a snowman with a non-skid sock hat. These will be given to a local nursing home patients. The residents LOVE re-ceiving these! Simply send a check, written to Theresa Her-stowski, to 3253 Brewer Road Darien, IL 60561. RE News… As the number of COVID cases rise, we will be implementing an “Adaptive Pause” in our RE program. Please note that RE Students will have an extended Thanksgiving break in order to keep our families safe. We will be off for Thanksgiving Break Mon-day & Tuesday, November 23-24 and Saturday & Sunday, November 28-29. We will be returning to RE on December 12-15, 2020.
Activities of the Week Today’s Feast of Christ the King re-minds us that Jesus identifies with those who are powerless, poor, and in need. Our participation in the life of Jesus demands that we serve those who are poor and in need. With this in mind, brainstorm with family members what Jesus will look for when he comes to judge us. Write down the responses on a sheet of pa-per. Display the paper on your refrig-erator as a family reminder. Pray for people around the world who are lost, frightened and in need of the Shepherd’s care. Talk to your children about the Cor-poral Works of Mercy listed in the Gospel today. Choose one or two to focus on through the upcoming Ad-vent Season in preparation for Christmas.
Questions of the Week Question for Children: Who are the people most in need of help who live around you, and how can you help them? Question for Youth: What can you do (alone, with friends, or with your family) to help those who are with-out food, shelter, or have other needs? When have you seen Jesus in the poor? Question for Adults: As you grapple with this very strong, direct and de-manding Gospel passage, name the people for whom you have cared personally – or if there are none, those for whom you will offer care in the coming weeks.
