General Description of Equipment:

The proposed boilers are the Hoval Ultragas 300 range. Please see technical details below:

Fully condensing boilers, operating with natural gas and floor mounted. Boilers design to operate at 80/60oC flow and return respectively. 3no. boilers installed, each boiler capable of producing 50% of the total building heat

demand. 2no. duty boilers with 1no. operating in standby mode. Each boiler has a vertically arranged combustion chamber with stainless steel heat

exchanger and combustion chamber. aluFer heat exchanger system. TopTronic E controls system for high efficiency operation. Boiler weight 724kg dry, with a 318ltr water capacity. Modulating pre-mix burner system. Boiler operates with no minimum water flow rates due to system water content. Motorised air intake shut off damper (supplied as an optional extra) NOx emissions 32mg/kWh

The boiler will be installed with the following equipment and components:

Hydraulic shut off valves – isolation valves across the flow and return connections. Integral controls panel on the boiler facia but will be connected to the site BMS also. BMS will provide remote enable/disable and common fault indication capability. Binder test points installed on flow and return pipework connections. Nabic pressure safety relieve valve set at 0.5bar above working boiler pressure. Gas connection complete with isolation valve and test nipple. Drain valves provided to each boiler. 150mm dial thermometer graded from 20-125oC on boiler combined flow and combined

return. 150mm altitude gauge graded from 0-4bar gauge on boiler combined flow.

The boiler controls shall consist of the following:




Full control of the boiler operation via the BMS. Automatic lead/lag sequencing for duty rotation of boilers. Rotation shall occur on a weekly

basis. BMS to be BACnet open protocol. Boiler output modulated with a 0-10V signal. First boiler to operate from 0-65% capacity, second boiler to be energised from 0-65%

capacity, for greater outputs each boiler shall be modulated simultaneously above this point.

BMS shall also modulate the primary pump equipment where required.

Note: the required output per boiler is 287kW. The selected boiler output at 80/60oC is 278kW which gives a 9kW deficit per boiler. Overall this equates to a 18kW deficit however this is equivalent to only 3%. Various design safety margins have been added during the boiler sizing and there is also the option to run the 3rd back-up boiler if required. We trust this is acceptable.

Note the following discrepancies against the specification which have been noted below but which do not represent a non-compliance against the performance specification:

Motorised air intake shut off damper will not be supplied as the combustion air inlet will be via wall mounted louvers/ louvered plantroom doors. Generally the automatic shut off damper is installed where the combustion air intake is ducted from outside to the boilers. We do not need to install a ducted air intake with the proposed boiler room location.
