• By 1851 census the church had;17,000 schools956,000 pupils being taught

• Bolney school founded in 1871. Mr McArthur became Head in 1872….

• Gradual nationalisation with Local Education Authorities starting in 1902

• 1944 Education Act saw the start of the “Dual system” of LA and Church running schools together. The basis of the present day system.
