FromSeptember23toOctober12,2015,twentyHaitianstudentswillbeontheSt.BonaventureUniversitycampusforaneducationalandculturalexchange. ThiswillbethekickoffofBonasandBeyond.Wewillalsobelaunchinganonlinenotforcreditlearningprogramtohelpeducatepeoplewhilealsomakingfriendsandassociatesfromaroundtheglobe.Classeswillbetaughtonavolunteerbasisbyprofessors,students,andexpertsfromtheBonaventurecommunity.TheclasseswillbeinEnglishandavailableonlineforfree.

InthespiritofFranciscanCooperation,BonasandBeyondisopentoeveryone.ItisacollaborativeeffortoftheentireSt.BonaventureUniversitycommunity.

HaitiansattendingareresponsibleforthecostsoftraveltoandfromWNY.OncetoBuffalo,wewillcovertheirfood,lodging,andcostsoncampusandforlocaltraveltoeventshere.InitialfundingfortheprogramisfromthePacioliScholarprogram,St.BonaventureSchoolofBusiness,andBonaResponds.

BonasandBeyondisnotonlyintheclassroom.Itisaculturalandlearningexchangethatwilltakeplaceoutsideoftheclassroom. Haitianparticipantswillgotolocalbusinessesandfarms,touristsights,andmuseums.Wewillalsobemakingpresentationsatlocalschoolsandtocommunityprograms.

ThemesforBonasandBeyondincludeequality,continualimprovement,education,economics,sustainability,andmakingtheworldabetterplace.Toachievethesegoals,theHaitianswillworkwithTheWarmingHouse,BonaResponds,andHaitiScholarships.
