• Celebrate your Engagement.

• Decide on your wedding date and remember that dates in April,

through to September will be busy.

• Decide on whether you are having a religious or a civil ceremony.

• Book the Church or the Registrar - The numbers for Sefton registrars

are: Southport - 0151934200 Waterloo -

• Determine who is paying for the wedding and work out a budget.

• Discuss as a couple, your priorities for the wedding.

• Decide if you would like children at your wedding or not.

• Decide how many guests you would like to invite, this may also need to

be discussed with parents, especially if they are contributing to the cost

of the wedding.

• Organise wedding insurance.

• Select your bridal party.

• Start looking for inspiration for your wedding. You will find this

everywhere, magazines, fabric, colours, flowers. When you find

something you like – Keep it!

• Research different options for entertainment for the reception. As soon

as you are happy book them!

• Select and book all the suppliers who could potentially get booked for

another wedding:

• Photographer (If Church wedding check their rules on this)

a traditional gift list, a contribution to your honeymoon or a donation to

your chosen charity.

require Formby Hall to provide you with a stand, please let us know if

your cake is round or square.

• Begin your health and beauty regimes. If you are planning to tone up

your body prior to the wedding make sure you plan months in advance

as any last minute weight loss could create problems with your dress.

• Choose who will design your stationery.

• If having a civil ceremony give notice of the marriage to the

superintendent registrar at Sefton County Council.

• Select your music for your ceremony and check with your Church or the

registrar that they are happy with your choices.

• Arrange your first dress fitting including your accessories.

• Select who will be doing hair and make-up and how many of the bridal

party will be involved in this.

• Your groom should arrange suit hire for the wedding party.

• Plan your stag and hen parties and remember that the night before the

wedding is not usually a good idea!

• Send out your invitations, including gift list and guest information. Date

the RSVP’s at least one week before, we need final numbers.

• Finalise plans for your honeymoon including visas, injections, travel

insurance and passports.

• Buy a guest book or arrange something similar ready for your guests to

leave personalised messages on the big day.

• Purchase gifts for the bridal party and decide when you would like to

present them. If it is jewellery you may want your bridesmaid’s to wear

it on your wedding day. You may prefer to stick with tradition and present

your gifts as part of the grooms’ speech.
